Why the true mortality rates for Corona Virus may be less than 0.1%

By Br. Alexis Bugnolo

The facts are disproving the hype. We are being stirred into a global panic hourly by a Main Stream Media which has no ethical concerns and has no conception of social statistics. As a student in the faculty of Anthropology at the University of Florida, Gainesville, I had to study statistics for social sciences. It was rigorous and precise.

So lets examine the statistics.

Let us take a look at the claim that 3.4% of those who contract Corona Virus 19 die from it.  Here is a trustworthy report from a Western journalist in China, Eunice Yoon, Bureau Chief for CNBC, a US TV News Agency.

Now let us unpack that those statistics tell us.

Eighty-percent of those who have corona virus have a mild flu.  This is a significant figure. Because, as we know, almost no one with a mild flu ever goes to the hospital.

But whereas in the severe influenza season of 2017, in the USA, only 1.7% to 2.2% of outpatient visits were for the flu, currently the CDC is reporting that outpatient visits for the flu in the USA are 5.1 to 5.2% (Source: non static page).

The first observation to make is that seems that the Corona Virus media panic mongering has increased the number of outpatient visits for the common cold by 250%. That is an alarming statistic.

But from it we can infer, that the normal rate of influenza in the population is perhaps twice as much as reported by Medical authorities, since patients simply do not see a doctor for a mild flue unless they have some urgent sense of necessity to do so.

So, back to the Chinese statistic.  If 80% have only mild symptoms, that is 80% of those who went to a doctor or a hospital so that they could be counted. That means maybe as much as twice as much never came in. That would reduce the mortality rate to 1.7% effectively. But since 80% may never report it, that 1.7% needs to be reduced again to 0.425%

Now let us look at some statistics for corona virus mortality among those with pre-existing health conditions, as reported by

*Death Rate = (number of deaths / number of cases) = probability of dying if infected by the virus (%). This probability differs depending on pre-existing condition. The percentage shown below does NOT represent in any way the share of deaths by pre-existing condition. Rather, it represents, for a patient with a given pre-existing condition, the risk of dying if infected by COVID-19.

confirmed cases
all cases
Cardiovascular disease
Chronic respiratory disease
no pre-existing conditions

*Death Rate = (number of deaths / number of cases) = probability of dying if infected by the virus (%). The percentages do not have to add up to 100%, as they do NOT represent share of deaths by condition.

Thus far

So as we can see here, the death rate for those with pre-existing conditions is 8 to 14 times greater than the general population.

This means, that of the 0.425% mortality rates, we can expect that a large proportion comes from these patients. But to see if that is so, we need to look at the rate of these conditions in the general population.

For this I will go to a peer reviewed Medical Journal, AHA, which states that 80% of the Chinese population has at least one cardiovascular risk factor. In addition, 45.9% have 2 risk factors and 17.2% percent have 3 risk factors. If we assume those with 3 risk factors are the Cardiovascular patients dying of Corona Virus when infected, that means that the death rates of 13.2% for those with Cadiovascular disease apply to those 17.2% of the population, to get an idea of how the overall rate of mortality is being skewed by those with cardiovascular disease. The result is that the mortality rates for cardiovascular disease patients may be a large part of the total 1.7% mortality rates for all those who contract Corona whether they report it or not, or even know it or not.

So if 17.2% of those who contract Corona Virus have cardiovascular disease risk, then nearly a sixth of the patients who are confirmed cases have a mortality rate of 14 times higher than the over all population which has no risk. This conclusion means that Cardiovascular victims might alone represent a large bulk of the total victims of Corona Virus.

The same calculation can be done with the other risk factors.

The result, even crude, as I have done here, means that the actual mortality rate for all who contract Corona Virus may be 10 times less, i.e.t 0.0425%. But the flu has a general mortality rate of 0.1%. So the actually mortality rate of Corona virus may be less than half of that that of the common cold. And this, because the total mortality rate, to be a true figure, must apply to the whole population which contracts the virus, and not just to those who go to the hospital because their case is severe enough for them to report it to a doctor.

Statistically, in Italy there are about 22,000 deaths per year from influenza. So far there are 1000 deaths from Corona virus 19.  That is a ratio of 1:20. So what we are seeing is not a sign of a pandemic, but only of another weaker common cold.

We can also infer, from this perhaps truer actual mortality rate, that once all the high risk population is depleted of potential victims in any one place, the virus will take no more victims. And thus, what we are seeing is not even an epidemic, but the medical result of complications in an already vulnerable population.

And this leads us to conclude that the Media are creating an unnecessary panic, and that unstable politicians who are totally ignorant of medicine and statistics are not reacting to the reality, but to the hype.

Palestrina: Missa sine nomine

As we continue our perusal of the sacred repertoire of  Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, the greatest Italian composer of the 16th century, whose fame has never been extinguished, we sample his Missa sine nomine, so called, because it bore no title.

This performance is by the Koorproject Rotterdam and is conducted by Maarten Michielsen.

FromRome.Info features at 5 P.M. daily, Rome time, a selection of sacred music for the edification of our readers, so that they can better grasp how contrary to the very nature of Catholic liturgy were the so called “reforms” of Vatican II.

De Donatis partially withdraws hateful interdict; implies Bergoglio is not the Pope

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

In the course of not even 24 hours, Angelo De Donatis, the acting Vicar of Rome, has gone from imposing an interdict upon all the faithful of the Eternal City from entering Churches and chapels, to pray the Rosary or adore the Most Blessed Sacrament, to removing the same, but only as much as regards Parish Churches of the City.

You can read his new Decree here.

I sense from the Italian used, that Angelo De Donatis was forced to issue the decree closing all the Church by Jorge Mario Bergoglio. I say this, because, in his partial revocation of the terms of his first decree, he does not name Bergoglio, but seemingly identifies him with the words:

La Chiesa di Roma, in piena comunione con il suo Vescovo, Supremo Pastore della Chiesa Universale, è consapevole …

That is, he did NOT call him the Pope! Nor did he call him the Successor  of Saint Peter!

In fact, he seems to be making a reference to the Declaratio of Pope Benedict XVI, of Feb. 11, 2013 — commonly called Pope Benedict’s renunciation — wherein the Holy Father calls the one to succeed him the Supreme Pontiff, but not the Successor of Saint Peter, nor the Roman Pontiff.

If my observation is correct, this represents a massive shift among the clergy of the Diocese of Rome. The hateful shutting of all the Churches may have made them realize that Bergoglio cannot be the true Pope, because he lacks entirely the charismatic gift or munus of the Petrine Office.

In the meantime, I predict further modifications of the decree, because the religious of the city, who do not run parishes depend upon the support of the faithful of the city, and will shortly demand that their own churches be opened again, especially since most of them are backed by international religious institutes with a lot of ecclesiastical, political and financial power.

If this be the case, then it will represent the first united push back by the Church of Rome against Bergoglio’s claim to power. And that will be truly a changing of the tide.

If the Corona panic has caused this, then we should thank God for it. In the mean time, let us remember all the deceased in these last months — from whatever cause — in particular those who have been denied a public funeral, in our prayers!

Those who fear the acts of religion, in times of panic, are unbelievers

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

If you ever wondered if your local bishop was a man of faith, or a faker, you will soon have — if not already — a clear and undeniable testimony: whether he closes the churches of your Diocese and suspends the celebration of the Sacraments.

Because if you have no faith, then religion of any kind is to your merely a superstition of the sentiment, which must be dispensed with for higher things: physical life.

But if you have the Catholic Faith, then the Catholic religion is something you recognize AS MORE IMPORTANT TO LIFE than even physical life or the risk of infection.

It is just that simple.

Scientists question the validity of the Pandemic classification

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

As the main stream media and leftist politicians and religious leaders go into absolute panic mode, voices of sane individuals in the medical, scientific and statistical fields are questioning the underlying characteristics of Corona virus epidemic.

On Feb. 24, 2020, the Italian Insider published one of the first calls against the Panic Syndrome, by Dr. Gismondo, Diretor of Clinical Macrobiology, Virology and Bioemergency Diagnostics at Sacco Hopital in Milan:

However, Maria Rita Gismondo, director of Clinical Macrobiology, Virology and Bioemergency Diagnostics at the Sacco Hospital in Milan where possible coronavirus cases are analyzed, has said that many cases look more like serious flu than coronavirus. “It’s not a pandemic! Mortality from influenza is at 217 deaths per day during the past week! For Coronavirus one!!!” she wrote in a widely reported Facebook status.

Jackson Ryan, writing for Cnet, the internet magazine, on March 11, was one of the few to cite the extreme danger of labeling an infection a pandemic, citing no less than the head of the World Health Organization himself:

Pandemic is not a word to use lightly or carelessly. It is a word that, if misused, can cause unreasonable fear, or unjustified acceptance that the fight is over, leading to unnecessary suffering and death,” said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO director-general, at a press briefing.

This same WHO Director, according to Ryan, has put major doubt into the mass media reporting of 3.4% mortality rate for Corona virus infections. As I observed yesterday, from only a brief study of the data — I hold a degree in Cultural Anthropology and am trained in statistical analysis of social phenomena — when he quoted Ghebreyesus discounting the numbers:

“Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 cases have died,” said WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus during a press conference on March 3. “By comparison, seasonal flu generally kills far fewer than 1% of those infected.” However, experts are unconvinced, because limited testing across the world, along with the mild symptoms that many infected experience suggests there may be many people currently undiagnosed with COVID-19 and this would push the fatality rate lower. On the other hand, if deaths are under-reported, perhaps 3% is conservative.

Moreover, it seems that COVID-19 does not even merit the fears of a pandemic. As Ryan cites:

A widely shared Twitter thread by Eric Feigl-Ding, a Harvard University epidemiologist, suggested the new coronavirus is “thermonuclear pandemic level bad” based on a metric known as the “r nought” (R0) value. This metric helps determine the basic reproduction number of an infectious disease. In the simplest terms, the value relates to how many people can be infected by one person carrying the disease. It was widely criticized before being deleted.

The criticism, however, confirms what Dr. Feighl-Ding said, as the reporter at The Atlantic reported:

First, the R0 estimates for the new coronavirus are in line with those for many other diseases. They’re similar to those for SARS (2 to 5) and HIV (also 2 to 5), and considerably lower than those for measles (12 to 16).

As we know, from HIV, the World Health Organization never declare a pandemic. There is probably a political reason, too, for HIV, because a protected political elite class is involved, but the R0 Values also tell a story.

The top experts in the Medical profession also are betraying that they are not convinced that COVID-19 is transmissable through the air, as Ryan reports:

On Feb. 29, US Surgeon General Jerome Adams issued a plea on Twitter for people to stop indiscriminately snapping up masks. “Seriously people- STOP BUYING MASKS!” the tweet said. “They are NOT effective in preventing general public from catching #Coronavirus, but if healthcare providers can’t get them to care for sick patients, it puts them and our communities at risk!”

Jeremy Brown, writing at The Atlantic, confirms that face masks are not really helping anyone. They should be used only by those who are actually infected, as Ryan of Cnet remarks, but Brown explains why most are wearing them, in his article comparing Corona Virus with the Spanish Flu of 1918:

If the terrible influenza pandemic of 1918 and the current coronavirus outbreak share one feature, it is this: People are terribly afraid. In December 1918, in the midst of the pandemic, 1,000 public-health officials gathered in Chicago to discuss the disease which had by then killed an estimated 400,000 people over three months. They did not know the cause of the epidemic, they had no treatments, and they had little idea how to control its spread. Face masks, which were then being worn by a large portion of the general public, offered no guarantee of protection (and that remains true of face masks today). Many health officials believed that the masks provided a false sense of security. Perhaps that was correct, but there was still a value in providing any kind of security. Chicago’s health commissioner made this clear. “It is our duty,” he said, “to keep the people from fear. Worry kills more people than the epidemic. For my part, let them wear a rabbit’s foot on a gold watch chain if they want it, and if it will help them to get rid of the physiological action of fear.”

As Statisticians in the USA have widely reported, the fear mongering and fear acceptance of possible pandemic are related with the political affiliations of individuals. With a much higher level of panic among left wingers, than conservatives.

I have my doubts … about the Corona panic

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

Now that the Marxists have us right where they have always dreamed, in their wildest of dreams, to have us, I have my doubts that they will ever let us go.

I am speaking about the shutting down and locking of all Catholic Churches and the house to house detention which is now enforce in Italy.

We are deprived of all meaningful human interaction with every other person or neighbor, friend or relative. We are forced to get all our information through the internet or TV, media which are highly controlled or filtered or capable of being such.

Seeing that lefties have no interior life, no morals, no ethics and no scruples, what motive would they ever have in giving us back the liberties which we were using to oppose them?

I do not want to be alarmist, but I have my doubts.

No one ever gave the Italian Prime Minister any authority to impose martial law on the nation. He is not even the President of Italy, who alone has this power according to the constitution.

And the Prime Minister certainly does not have the right to suspend the Constitutional rights of the citizens regardless of what calamity befalls Italy.

So I have my doubts, and as this sort of raw and vicious grab for power spreads round the world, making us all like denizens of the Maoist Tyranny of China, I think you should cultivate some doubt too.

Canon 41 gives every Catholic the right to declare Bergoglio an Anti-pope

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

Today, Marcy, 13, 2020, is the 7th anniversary of the usurpation of the Papacy by Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, the anti-pope.

And every Catholic has the right to say, what I just said. He also has the duty. But first, let me discuss the right.

Don’t fall for the lie pandered to the gullable, that the laity do not in this case have the right to judge who is and who is not the true pope.

In the case of Bergoglio, Canon Law actually refutes such a lie.

This is because, Pope Benedict XVI never resigned the papacy. He never resigned, because to renounce the papal office, in Canon Law, you have to renounce the munus of the Roman Pontiff.  But Pope Benedict XVI only renounced the ministerium which had been entrusted to him by the Cardinals, the day he was elected as Roman Pontiff.

As I explained in my previous article for the 7th Anniversary, that means Pope Benedict XVI is still the pope.

But that also means that YOU, each of you, whomsoever you are, big or small, important or unknown, practicing or not practicing, clergy or lay, religious or consecrated, married or single, employed or unemployed, whether you attend the mass in the local language or in Latin, ALL of you have the right to say that Benedict XVI is still the pope.

I do not say this, on the basis of the fact that Benedict XVI did not renounce according to the norm of Canon 332 §2, but on the basis of Canon 41.

Canon 41 Saves the Church in the present hour

This is because, by renouncing the ministerium instead of the munus, Pope Benedict XVI posited an administrative act, not a juridical act.

In canon law, a juridical act is the act of someone with jurisdiction which makes a change in law or establishes a law or issues a sentence or penalty.  Juridical acts are described in the Code of Canon Law in canons 125 ff..

But since Pope Benedict XVI renounced the ministry, which is not any sort of juridical act mentioned in the Code of Canon Law, and because his renunciation regards the ministry not the papal office, his act falls in the category of an administrative act.  Administrative, means anything and all which regards ministry.

As an administrative act, then, each of us Catholics has the duty and right when receiving it, to judge if it be valid, and if so, to refuse it. This is enshrined in Canon 41 which reads:

Which in English means:

Canon 41 – The executor of an administrative act to whom there is committed the mere ministry of execution, cannot deny the execution of the act, UNLESS it appears from something manifest that the act itself is NULL or cannot be sustained on account of another grave cause or that the conditions laid forth in the administrative act itself have not be fulfilled; however, if the execution of the administrative act seems inopportune by reason of the persons or place adjoined, the executor may omit the execution; in which cases let him bring the matter to the attention of the one who issued the act.

As subjects of the Roman Pontiff, his decision to resign or not is a decision which we cannot judge according to its existence. We must accept that. But Canon 41 grants us the right and authority to judge whether a renunciation of ministry is an administrative act which is to be executed by us.

A renunciation of ministry is simply the decision of a superior to omit the fulfillment of his duties. It can occur because he is sick, wants to take a vacation, is busy with family matters, etc.. Normally, a Bishop does not issue a statement about such matters. But it does not change the nature of the act, whether he do so or not.

However, such a renunciation does not cause him to lose his office as our superior. Because the fulfillment of duties is one thing, the office of authority is another.

The act of Pope Benedict in renouncing ministerium instead of munus, is an act which is no where found in Canon Law. Therefore it is an actus nullus. That is, it is not a a canonical act. Therefore, each of us is obliged not to act on it. We are also obliged to bring to Pope Benedict’s attention that the act is null.

So they next time they tell you to shut up or stop judging, that you are a sedevacanists, etc. etc. etc., reply, no, I am merely using Canon 41 as is my right and duty, to respond to Pope Benedict XVI’s administrative act in a reasonable and just way.

Finally, you can add that Archbishop Lenga and Bishop Gracida, both Catholic Bishops in good standing, hold the same opinion as yourself.

Oh, and since Pope Benedict XVI still pope, then it follows necessarily that Bergoglio is an Anti-Pope. And you can declare the same thing, in virtue of the consequences of Canon 41.
