Perpetual Supplica

This devotion is inspired by the request made by Our Lady Herself in
Bl. Anne Catherine Emmerich’s Vision of

August 25, 1822: “I know not now how I went to Rome last night, but I found myself near the church of Santa Maria Maggiore. Around it I saw crowds of poor, pious souls, in great distress and anxiety on account of the Pope’s disappearance and the agitation and alarming reports throughout the city. Led by one common impulse, they had come to invoke the Mother of God. They did not expect to find the church open, they intended only to pray outside. But I was inside, I opened the door and they entered, astounded at the door’s opening of itself. I was standing aloof where they could not see me. There was no service, only the chancel-lamps were burning, and the people knelt in quiet prayer. Then the Mother of God appeared. She said that great tribulations were at hand; that the people must pray earnestly with extended arms, if only for the length of three Our Fathers, for it was thus that her Son had prayed for them upon the Cross; that they should rise at midnight to pray thus; that they should continue to come to Her church which they would always find open; and that they should, above all, pray for the extirpation of the Church of Darkness. … I know not whether the people saw the apparition or not, but they must have been impressed by something supernatural for, when the Blessed Virgin said they should pray to God with arms extended, all lifted up their arms … It seemed to be an association of prayer.” From this time Sister Emmerich assisted nightly at the pious exercises at Santa Maria Maggiore. Palestrina: Missa papae Marcelli, Credo with Pope Benedict XVI

As we continue our perusal of the sacred repertoire of  Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, the greatest Italian composer of the 16th century, we sample the Gloria from his Missa papae Marcelli, in a performance by the Sistine Chapel Choir, in the presence of Pope Benedict XVI on the Feast of Saint Peter and Paul, June 2011, in the occasion of his 60th Anniversary of priestly ordination.

FromRome.Info features at 5 P.M. daily, Rome time, a selection of sacred music for the edification of our readers, so that they can better grasp how contrary to the very nature of Catholic liturgy were the so called “reforms” of Vatican II.

The Corona Hype is killing patients

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

The Corona Hype is not only psychologically dangerous to the nation, because it is causing massive panic, but its medically dangerous to patients and increasing their deaths. So says Dr. Claus Koehnlein, an expert in immunology.

Here is his testimony in Italian:

Here is the same video in the original German:

Here is my summary in English:  Dr. Koelnlein recommends that if you show signs of the flu, that you stay at home and presume it is the flu. For doctors, he recommends that if a patient has flu symptoms and worries about having coronavirus, to give them a test to see if they have the common winter flu. Chances are, that is all they have. If positive, tell them to stay at home and weather it through.

He does not recommend the test for coronavirus which gives 50% of the time a false positive, which will not only result in the wrong treatments for the patient but added panic and stress which will reduce the immune response of the patient.

If, however, you think you have coronavirus, and you go to a hospital to get treatment, you are most likely going to get coronavirus, because the hospitals are contaminated with other cases of those who have coronavirus. This is how the Hype can put you in danger.

But the real danger lies in how the Hype is causing doctors to react in hospitals. Not wanting to be guilty for under treating a patient for coronavirus, with the result that they die from it, the doctors are prescribing very strong medicines. He cites the case of a 50 year old who was given a battery of 6 medicines, which he believes killed the patient. This resulted from the fact that since coronavirus causes an exaggerated immune system response, the doctors tried to prevent that by giving the patient medicines which suppressed his immune response and left him undefended and killed him.

This excessive treatment he believes is increasing death rates and making doctors and medical staff in their panic legally liable for murder.

Politicians, not wanting to be seen of having not done enough, are exaggerating their own responses leading to panic in the general population and in the hospitals.

This summary is not a transcript nor verbatim, but rather my understanding of the information presented.

Satan uses lies to weaponize creatures

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

As a social phenomenon, the Corona Panic is following the same lines as the Coup d’etat of February 2013. And we can see, in each event and its consequences, how Satan used a big lie to weaponize Catholics against the Church. I think we can also look at the Second Vatican Council under the same light.

First comes the big lie, or deception. It consists in an error contrary to fact. Thus, it is not something which the theological virtue of Faith, Hope or Charity can immediately detect. It’s detection requires a strong habit of prudence, an established practice of being informed, and an acute sense of discernment, qualities which are rare by themselves and even more rare in combination.

The 3 Big Lies

The first big lie was that if the Church needs to alter Her way of doing (ministerium) to accommodate modern times, this will make more effective the execution of Her office (munus) of sanctification.

The second big lie was that a renunciation of doing (ministerium) is equivalent to a renunciation of office (munus).

The third big lie is that the Coronvirus is 34 times more lethal than the common winter flu.

Initial Reactions to the Big Lies

These three big lies took the world by storm. No one was prepared to rebut them. All assumed they were correct simply because of the unanimity in the world or Church that they were correct.

For this reason, these lies were accepted. And by being accepted as first principles of every thought which would regard those events, they because the false history, the fake news, the false premise which formed the mind of those who accepted them.

Most people can never see that they are deceived until they become totally convinced that the lie they accepted is harmful to themselves. And thus years can pass, decades even, until one day they reconsider what happened to them and reflect on the change in narrative they unwittingly accepted.

Weaponizing the deceived

Just as those who accepted Satan’s claim to be like unto God, were led into servitude to that lie and became demons of deception, so those who accept big lies are constrained by the logic of accepting them as truth, to become servants of the lie.

When you doubt the big lie, then, watch out!

Because those who accept it at truth, will now use all the zeal they had to defend truth, against you, because by accepting the lie as truth they just your questioning of the lie as an attack on truth.

In each of these three events, we can see what happened.

Catholics who said, “No, the way the Church has saved souls for 1960 years was inspired by God, it was  not an accident of history, therefore it cannot be changed without endangering souls and destroying the work of the Church to save them”, were labeled as integralists, traditionalists, dinosaurs, old-fashioned, backwards, schismatic, disobedience, stubborn, thick headed, even heretical. Not in union with the pope!

Catholics who said, “No, according to the norm of law of the Code of Canon Law of 1983, to renounce the papal office you need to renounce the munus (canon 332 §2), therefore Pope Benedict XV is still the pope”, where immediately attacked as nuts, loonies, addicted to their own judgement, stubborn, false apostles, self deceived, ugly, crazy, psychiatric, bigots, schismatics, and even heretics. Not in union with the pope!

Catholics who said, “No the statistical evidence being gathered everywhere shows that this virus is not even as lethal as the common winter flu and that therefore there is no scientific justification for the shutting down of Churches and the denial of the Sacraments to the faithful”, are now being called selfish, corona deniers, dangerous, unscientific, murderous, uncharitable, loony, mad.  Not in union with the pope!

The End game of Satan’s Big Lies is mass possession

However, when lies fail, Satan weaponizes emotions to attack his enemies. We see that in recent days with the unrelenting emotional but absurdly irrational attacks of Trad Inc. against all who doubt the Corona Hype.

Even in the last seven years, if you have yes, you can see how so many Catholics have fallen from the truth faith or from right morals because they follow Bergoglio as the pope. The effect of the downfall of the communion of saints is causing a massive deprivation of grace because the prayers of so many now are fruitless being founded upon lies.

The end game of Satan is mass possession of all the souls alive on Earth. He desires this so as to achieve in his eyes, as it were, the greatest possible mockery of God. He literally does not dive a damn about you, he only wants to weaponize you in his war against God. Saint Maximilian Kolbe warned us of this. That is why he urged everyone to consecrate themselves to the Immaculate Virgin and pray the Rosary daily, but above all strive to be pure and sinless as She was, through mortification, charity and worthy confession and communion.

The deprivation of the Sacraments, then, all fits into the end game of Satan. Mass possession will soon result if the public celebration of the Sacraments is not quickly restored.

Jesus wants us to be faithful to the truth

Jesus Christ, being God Himself, Who is Truth Himself, wants and cannot not want that we be faithful to every truth. Truth is the adequation of the mind to the reality in which we live, not to conform our minds to the reality by denying other truths, but by recognizing the reality for what it is.

These three big lies have to be recognized as lies, before we can extricate ourselves and the Church and the world from all the errors and injustice which flowed, flows or will flow from them.

And this mission to oppose these 3 Big Lies is the vocation of every Catholic today who wants to get to Heaven and has the grace of God to see them for what they are. We must be apostles of truth to a dark and darkening world.

We have to love our neighbors so much, that we risk losing some of them as friends, so as to save some of them in the truth.  We have to be prepared to walk the Stations of the Cross with few or no friends and be crucified in the end, if necessary, to give witness to the truth.

But we also need to remember what Our Lord said, about not throwing pearls of truth to the swine who hate the truth.

And at the same time, we must keep in mind, that Satan is not done with his work of deception. We can expect more Big Lies, and more frequently until they become like waves, reducing the number of those saved, ultimately to such a very few, that Our Lord returns in might and power to destroy this world of liars and lovers of lies.

In the meantime, let us pray to and imitate Saint Michael the Archangel, whose own name, Michael — which means Who is like unto God? — shows us how completely he dedicated his entire being and identity to opposing the first ever Big Lie. Armed by devotion to him (see my PDF on this), let us be confident that either in this world or in the next, we shall have victory.

RAI in 2015 reported that the Chinese had developed COVID-19

This report is in Italian, but is too important to hold back for lack of a a transcript.

Here is my summation: The report regards the shock from international experts on virology that China had announced “success” in creating a chimera SARS virus, by taking a SARS virus which was not lethal in mice and grafting into its genetic code parts of a coronavirus from Bats which live in China, so that the resulting virus would have the ability to latch on to the proteins in the walls of human lungs and thus be highly dangerous.

The news of the development caused governments to stop co-funding the Chinese BioLab responsible and issue warnings that such research was not beneficial in any determinate way to the advancement of science, nay, was a threat to humanity itself.

Is the Traditional Catholic Movement Catholic?

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

The Catholic Faith and Religion, indeed, the Holy Catholic Church Herself, has always been traditional.

“Tradition” is an English word borrowed from the Latin, traditio, tradere: the handing down of teaching. The use of the term in regard to the Catholic Faith regards the handing down of eternally true teaching: eternally true, because it is of God through Christ, the Apostles and the Prophets of old, and through the constant and universal testimony of the Fathers of the Church, the Saints of the Church, the Doctors of the Church, and the authentic ordinary and extraordinary magisterium of the Church.

Part of this deposit is testified to in the Code of Canon Law of 1983, promulgated by Pope John Paul II, in canon 1364, which reads in the official Latin, thus:

Canon 1364 § 1.  Apostata a fide, haereticus vel schismaticus in excommunicationem latae sententiae incurrit, firmo praescripto canon. 194, § 1, n. 2; clericus praeterea potest poenis, de quibus in can. 1336 § 1, nn. 1, 2, et 3, puniri.

§ 2. Si diuturna contumacia vel scandali gravitas postulet, aliae poenae addi possunt, non excepta dimissione e statu clericali.

My English translation, verbatim:

Canon 1364 § 1.  An apostate from the Faith, a heretic and/or a schismatic incurs an excommunication latae sententiae, with the prescription of canon 194 § 1, n. 2 remaining firm; moreover, a cleric can be punished with the punishments, which are mentioned in canon 1336, § 1, nn. 1, 2, and 3.

§ 2. If long-lasting contumacy and/or the gravity of the scandal require, other punishments can be added, not excepting dismissal from the clerical state.

Canon 1364 shows the Traditional and Catholic way of acting

Catholics have always regarded these three sins: apostasy, heresy, and schism as so grave that they deprive one entirely of membership in the Catholic Church. That means that they who commit these sins by external actions lose ipso facto all office, authority, power and jurisdiction in the Church, though, if they are Bishops, priests or other members of the clergy, they retain the sacramental character or charism of their ordination. And if they are religious they retain their consecration to God, in some sense.

This is the Catholic position. And all who deny it are themselves heretics and rebels against the Church.

Those who deny this are many. Today, they are chiefly Modernists, who deny that there is objective truth other than religious sentiment, and thus, no objective standard to judge the faith of anyone. Or they are Neo-Modernists, who believe truth is life and thus as persons change, truth changes. For Neo-Modernists, the only heresy is holding fast to unchanging truth. Or they are simply corrupt clergy, who want to do what they want and do not want to be penalized for it, and thus, likewise do not want anyone in the Church penalized either. Of these some are formally Anomean, that is they deny the moral obligation of law, and that is a heresy. Others are just crooks.

The Traditional Catholic Movement, what is it?

The term, “Traditional Catholic Movement” is not well defined. In general it refers to all those individuals and groups which recognized that the spirit and documents of the Second Vatican Council deviated from the Deposit of the Faith in some manner, and in particularly, as regards the Catholic Faith on the sacred liturgy.

That some group or person is called a Traditional Catholic, therefore, does not really guarantee anything but some sort of disagreement.  In English, it has become the usage to call those who belong to this movement, “trads”, for short. However, not all trads are traditional Catholics. A good number of them are modernists or what the Freemasons means by the term “conservative”, that is, controlled opposition.

A short history of the Traditional Catholic Movement

The first to resist the errors of the Council were individuals who were priests and laymen. One of the first and most heroic was a priest who was a professor of theology here in the U.S.A. I do not remember his name, right now, but he inaugurated the movement on doctrinal grounds. He remained faithful to his principles and was subsequently ignored or ostracized by those who came after. He ended his days serving the faithful from an independent Chapel up the river from New York City.

Priests around the world soon followed suit, and laity too. But in the 60’s it was very difficult for Catholics to know of these things, since all media was controlled by those in favor of the Second Vatican Council. I was born in the 60s, in a devout Catholic family and did not hear of these things for another 20 years. That is how slow the news moved.

Much later, one of the signers of the Second Vatican Councils documents, Archbishop Marcel François Marie Joseph Lefebvre decided to take a similar position. I say similar, because his position was that to preserve the Roman Rite as it had been handed down in the Church, he held he had a right to resist the innovations. Elected in 1962 to the office of Superior General of the Holy Ghost Fathers (Cssp) he opposed these innovations as much as he could, until 1968 when he resigned, recognizing that the members of the Holy Ghost Fathers would not suffer his government further.  Approached by French Seminarians from the French Seminary at Rome, in 1969, he began a course of action which followed Canon Law but resisted the reforms. He received permission to open a Seminary at Econe , but before receiving final formal approval, had that permission taken away. He continued to run the Seminary and formed priests together in what is now called the Society of Saint Pius X, popularly, or the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X, more correctly. I believe the original title referred to Jesus and Mary, however.

Archbishop Lefebvre’s course of action would set the standard for a large part of the traditional movement in decades to come. Resistence of the innnovations, operation of chapels and centers of formation without canonical approval, but absence of any formal condemnations of anyone for heresy, schism or apostasy. The Archbishop did not want to consummate a schism. He ordained no Bishop for any diocese, nor clergy for any diocese per se., though his society would take up operation in many dioceses round the world, and ultimately claim authority to conduce marriage tribunals for cases of possible nullity, a thing which formally requires jurisdiction, though materially only requires right knowledge of the law.

Most other traditional Catholics, however, took another approach. They sought to keep the Latin Mass intact and celebrated by requesting permission or simply stubbornly refusing to change. Some priests did this for decades without any censure. Others were censured immediately or after a time, or had their faculties taken away. After such punishments some of these priests continued to act as priests, recognizing rightly that punishments for virtuous actions are both unjust and invalid, before the law.

Other traditional Catholics, who were part of one or more of the above mentioned three groups, eventually discerned however, that the Council was being promoted by heretics and apostates and they made public declarations of this kind. Some of these accused Pope Paul VI and after a time began to hold that he was a heretic and had lost his office. Others sought consecration as priests or bishops from Cardinals who opposed the changes of the Council or from schismatic bishops in Mexico, Spain, the USA etc.. As far as I know, a good number of these now form the sedevacantist movement. But not all are Sedevacantists formally, that is, not all hold that the Popes since Pius XII are all invalid, on account of heresy.

Finally, many groups broke off from each of the above. Thus there are the Society of Saint Pius V and those who believe that the Apostolic See is formally vacant but materially filled. There is the Fraternity of Saint Peter which broke off from the SSPX and there are many communities of priests and religious which were founded by each of the above groups or were founded by those friendly to them, which remained friendly and which went their own ways.

Subsequently, however, especially since the Papal decision expressed in Summorum Pontificum, by Pope Benedict XVI, which reaffirmed the perennial validity of the ancient Roman Rite and implied that the Bull of his predecessor Saint Pius V, Missale Romanum, was still in force, many Catholics began to call themselves traditional, whether they were or not. The term “traditional Catholic” became watered down to mean someone who went to the Latin Mass. A lot of these, however, are just smell and bell Catholics, that is, they just like the aestetics of the Traditional Mass, but doctrinally or morally, they are Modernists of one color or another.

But is the Traditional Catholic Movement Catholic?

Obviously, as you can see, since there is no definite meaning to the term, “Traditional Catholic Movement”, this question cannot be answered simply with one answer for all these groups.

But if we were to ask one simply question, I think we can sort these groups out. That question is, do they recognize that they must act in accord with the norm of Church Law?

Yes, some of these in not recognizing Pope John Paul II as the Pope, do not accept the new Code of Canon Law. But for them, I would ask, do they even accept the 1917 Code of Canon Law.

This is an important question, because a lot of those who claim to be traditional Catholics are merely addicted to their own private judgement — like protestants — or their own self-righteousness, like the Jansenists, or to a desire to be free of every law, like Anomeans, condemned by Saint Paul in his Letters to the Church of Corinth. Indeed, a number of these groups have been just as plagued with pedophilia, sodomy and fornication as the clergy who accept Vatican II. So one has real and objective basis to doubt whether they are sincere in their claim to be traditional Catholics, since that implies first of all, acceptance of the moral law, and hence of Church law.

The sad truth, however, is that most of these groups do not accept Church Law, and reject the faith of the Church which is expressed in the New Code of Canon Law in canon 1364.

That rejection makes them, formally, Modernists, or Neo-Modernists, depending upon why they do it, though I suppose some may merely be pragmatists, and only morally corrupt, not doctrinally aberrant.

The reason they reject the faith expressed in Canon 1364, is that they fear being called Schismatics, and because they do not have the intention, if they ever had it, of saving the Church. They only have the intention of self preservation and enjoyment of the Sacraments they way they were always celebrated.

As the years passed, this strange and uncatholic position caused them to be more and more alienated, and in deed, according to some hearsay testimony, I reckon that for every 1 Catholic who goes to the traditional Latin Mass today with any of these groups, 9 have left and returned to the Vernacular Mass, not because they do not prefer or love the old Mass, but because these groups do not want to save the Church.

This position of self interest is really the only thing left in their organizations, that is why they insist with force and demagoguery, sometimes, that Bergoglio is the pope no matter what, or that Benedict is not the pope, no matter what. They cannot listen to an argument which establishes that Benedict is the pope and that Bergoglio never was, because to even want to listen to that argument, you have to be a person who accepts both the moral law and Church law as an objectively valid external rule of action and judgement. And if you are in a group which rejects that, even if they call themselves traditional, that is ideologically impossible.

A Refutation of Bishop Schneider’s Demagoguery

By Alexis Bugnolo

A lot of Catholics have asked me to refute Bishop Athanasius’ Schneider in detail. I have written a partial refutation, but his position is so absurd I have refrained, but here is a sound refutation on the more principal points:

However, I will point out that there is in the Church no such thing as the Byzantine Catholic Patriarch. The group which produced this has a checkered history, canonically, but at least doctrinally, in this refutation of Mons. Schneider, they take a Catholic position. Synods must be called in every nation to condemn Bergoglio.

The only errors I see in this video are:

First, that the authors of this video hold that if canon law is used to support heresy and apostasy, canon law is invalid. The correct Catholic position is, rather, that when canon law is used to support heresy and apostasy, it is the use which is to be condemned and the interpretation which is to be corrected by canon 17.

Second that they assert that the worship of an idol is a heresy or manifestation of heresy. But it is rather a sin of apostasy, is not directly a sin of heresy, because heresy is the denial of a truth which is revealed by God, but the adoration of an idol is the denial of the entire Deposit of the Faith. Adoration of an idol might include heresy, but it is much more than heresy.

Third, they avoid entirely that Pope Benedict XVI is the true pope. They do this because in certain matters they themselves have usurped ecclesiastical offices and powers, such as, for example, establishing a Byzantine Patriarchate, without any authority from God or Pope Benedict XVI.

Finally,  I would like to point out, for the sake of public record, that back in 2015 I was greatly inspired by the sound and heroic statements of Bishop Schneider against the errors being promoted by Bergoglio. It truly saddens me that he has abandoned the Catholic Faith and Canon Law to insist that Bergoglio is still the pope, despite all his public sins, his pertinacious heresy, his apostasy and his schism mongering. In this he has done a very wicked thing, and I think if he persists in his false position, that he must be reckoned by all Catholics a heretic himself, for denying the constant teaching of the Church that heretics and apostates and schismatics lose office immediately, as canon 1364 states.

Responding to public calumny

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

My editorial defending the historical truth of the heroic efforts of Catholic Religious and Priests during the Spanish Flu epidemic of 1918 at Philadelphia, against the misrepresentation of Father Gismondi in his op-ed at Rorate Caeli blog, seems to have provoked the most violent outburst from their twitter account operator:

Capture d’écran . 2020-03-25 à 19.05.11

Since Rorate’s Twitter account has gravely impugned my mental health, I consider it necessary to give a short response.

If there is anything inaccurate in what I said in my article about the Spanish Flu in Philadelphia, please refute it!

As for why I asked by email the person responsible for the blog to remove a link to the Franciscan Archive, back when I saw that Rorate Caeli was not taking a position to defend the Faith against Bergoglio, it was because I had seen that the operator of Rorate Caeli had manipulated a lot of traditional catholics to read his blog by giving a lot of us links to our websites, thereby making it appear we endorsed him or that he was one of us. I am not sure how The Franciscan Archive ended up on his blog, but I vaguely remembered that I was asked permission for the link to be placed there.

Thus, I asked that the link be removed once I found out that the person behind the blog was a political activist of the modern conservative type, which never wants to fight the left, only go more slowly to the left. And that is the truth. But I did not say that in my email, for charity sake.

As for Bergoglio, as everyone at Rome knows, I never thought he was a holy man. I hoped he would be a good pope, that is all, because at the time I thought he was the pope. If Rorate contests this, let them produce the email. As I began From Rome in September of 2013, I challenge anyone to find any article here wherein I ever said Bergoglio was a holy man.

As for presuming a man who you think is the pope is worthy of respect, I would contest with any Catholic who says that such a presumption is unreasonable on account of the providence which protects the Papacy. And it is certainly not psychologically aberrant. What I did find strange was that Rorate Caeli had for years continually defended the theologically aberrant things said by Ratzinger but upon the election of Bergoglio immediately pounced upon everything he said. That made me realize whoever was behind Rorate he was not acting on consistent or theological principles.

As anyone who use to comment at Rorate knows, I was the strongest critic of Ratzinger’s theology and also of Pope Benedict’s writings. I think Rorate banned me several times for that. But I did so on the basis of the teaching of the Church. That is the same basis I critiqued Bergoglio, because that is the only basis I critique the theological statements of anyone. I am consistent on that.

In the mean time, to the Twitter Account operator, I say: Act like a man and refute my article if it can be refuted, otherwise, have the integrity to admit that your blog published an op-ed which misrepresented the history of the Church of Philadelphia.

As for the readers of Rorate Caeli, I think this incident shows how worthwhile it is reading anything at that blog. In my opinion it never was an authentic Traditional Catholic site.  It pretended to be such like so many others, such as One Peter Five. I have been on the net since 1993, so I have seen a lot of newbies and their tricks. I am old enough to be tired of these posers, to tell you openly who they are.
