  2. Haiti is a mystère to me. The first Caibbean island to gain independence, but the least developed until now. There may be historical and other explanations, but maybe voodoo is not the least…

    1. Haiti is 995% African slave descent. The French never helped these people as much as the Spanish did elsewhere. With few Europeans living among them, it is the Caribbean nation most like an African nation in its culture.
