The Hermitage of the Holy Cross opens

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

I wish to thank all my benefactors since June who have made it possible for me to begin an apostolate for the salvation of souls in Italy, by means of opening a Hermitage in obedience to His Holiness, the Vicar of Christ, Pope Benedict XVI. But most and first of all, I want to thank  the Sacred Heart of Jesus for deigning to allow me to collaborate with Him in His work of caring for His Flock in central Italy.

I call this place, the Hermitage of the Holy Cross, because to obtain this grace I made a month long novena in front of the Basilica of the Holy Cross in Jerusalem, at Rome, and the owner of this place decided to rent it to me on the vigil of the Triumph of the Holy Cross, in September.

The property includes 10 acres of forest and 2 of pasture.

I moved in on the Feast of the Guardian Angels. And the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in the Ancient Rite, was offered in it, for the first time, for all my benefactors, on the vigil of St. Francis of Assisi, on Sunday. I had the exalted honor to serve as the acolyte. The Mass was said  in communion with Pope Benedict XVI. It was an awesome unforgettable and historic grace.

This place will also serve as the first Commandery of the Ordo Militaris Catholicus, inasmuch as it being my private residence, I am free to put it to such use to promote the growth of the Order in Europe. The Order, being dedicated to helping persecuted Catholics, will use this place as a place of temporary refuge for persecuted Clergy and Religious, who threatened with the DeathVaxx have no alternative but to flee here, network with others, and find their place in the Vineyard of the Lord as He will indicate it.

The Commandery will be dedicated on Saturday to Bl. Urban II, who called the First Crusade, and who as a cardinal, was Bishop in these parts of Italy in the 11th Century.

I hope also to organize an in house program of theological studies under the aegis of The Scholasticum, since there are now here in Italy, to my knowledge, no Catholic centers of theological formation which do not require the DeathVaxx or DeathSwab.

Like nearly all rentals in Italy, the house is nearly entirely furnished. It lacked only a washing machine and some desks for the 5 bedrooms. Including patios, balconies, etc., the house is about 2700 sq ft.

In particular, among the works of the apostolate, I hope also to have constructed a white cubical altar, with a marble mensa, and the Cross of the Order on the front panel, so that the graces of Our Lord might descend upon all the works of God in this place and spread from this Altar to all those who support this work of the Order, wherever they be in the world. When I find an artist to design it, the craftsman who is an expert in woodworking will build it for cost. — If anyone can do a design, contact me via skype at +1 406 299 9260 and I can give you all the details and information required.

With a suitable Altar and other furnishings, the Chapel might serve for regular Mass for those who have no where to worship the Lord Jesus in communion with His Vicar on Earth.

If anyone would like to help with the needs of this Hermitage  — it’s really too small to merit the name of a Monastery — or its chapel, please consider making a donation below, if you are not in Italy. — Those in Italy can contact me in person to know how they can help.

I thank you all in advance, for your prayers, support and best wishes, and be assured of my prayers for yourselves and your loved ones.

  1. Brother Alexis,
This is absolutely wonderful news! Be assured of my prayers for you, the hermitage, and the faithful priests who need to take refuge there. I will also pray that someday soon you can open one in the United States for the silenced/canceled clergy here. Just recently, at a parish near where I live, a good and faithful priest was coerced into taking a sabbatical due to his reluctance and/or refusal to wear a face mask throughout his celebration of Holy Mass. He declined to wear it because he contracted the Covid disease months ago, had completely recovered, and therefore has developed immunity to it. Apparently, however, there were enough “Karens” at that parish to pressure our archbishop-turned-medical professional into forcing the departure of an excellent priest, loved and trusted by many. Please pray for my city and archdiocese. And please forgive my “snarky” tone – but I am just done assuming the hierarchy have no malicious intent when things like this are done. I had hoped my local church leaders would not be among the complicit nor the participants of this evil charade.
May God bless your important work!

    1. Only on Saturday, October 2, 2021 was notice given of a private ritual — invitation only — to be enacted on the High Altar, with doors closed”

Any additional Intel from your network on whether the Basilica was reconsecrated? Or was it a Black Mass to “re-honor”the desecration?
Thank you for being our eyes and ears on the ground there.
May Our Lady and St Francis keep you safe from what surely must be an extraordinarily dangerous time in Rome. Remember that Fr Luigi Villa was assaulted and attempts on his life were made 6x as he worked at exposing ecclesiastical freemasonry. May he RIP among the elect and intercede for you as well!

  2. Dear Br. Alexis Bugnolo,

May the Lord continue to bless the work of your hands as you embark upon this new chapter of Franciscan service at the Hermitage of the Most Holy Cross & May Our Lady watch over you and protect you always!

Sincerely yours in the Passion of the Church,

  3. So wonderful. I believe your adventure will inspire others in other countries to follow suit. It sounds like a trumpet blast to the enemy : Viva Christo Rey.! L

  4. God bless your new venture in partnership with Our Lord. Brother Alexis may you find many pearls in this Hermitage. When my currently disrupted life becomes calmer, I will send my ‘widow’s’ mite donation to help. You have wonderful plans, may they be guided by the Wise Angels.

  6. Br. Alexis, I have contributed to you today for the Hermitage, and have placed your post on Facebook to encourage others to donate. Praying for you daily!

  7. It is so exciting that you’ve shared this photo and information. Your location is on my bucket list that I may never begin. I’m very excited for you and hope for many days of experiences. This looks to be a serious location to cultivate food and enjoy some peace. It’s bitter sweet for me as I’ve enjoyed your online interaction immensely. I look forward to updates if possible as you are blessed from this new environment.

    1. FromRome.Info will continue as I have solved the connectivity problems, but as there is so much work, maybe there will be a small reduction in articles published.

  8. Just wonderful that you have found this place of peace and may you work many wonders here. What a blessing from God and so well deserved, for all of the hope and love you bring to us.

  9. Two questions:

    1. Will contribution thru Old St Mary help you with both your sustainability and with the upkeep maintenance expenses of the Hermitage of the Holy Cross?
    2. With the celebrant approval, could one of the first few masses at the Hermitage be video for us that are too far to attend at this time?

May God continue to bless you in your endeavors and Our Lady the Virgin Mary and Saint Francis protect you and watch over the Hermitage.

    1. Save Old St. Mary’s Inc., is a 501c3 US non profit organized to help Franciscan religious and to promote the Catholic Faith through charitable works. Support of the Hermitage qualifies as a non profit religious activity, so the answer to your question is yes.
