I have a question. I have not read Vatican 2 documents. So my question is is the document itself not Catholic or the propaganda surrounding it and how Time/Life and CIA spun it? I am currently reading the catechism of the Council of Trent for my instruction on the Faith as it reliable for true Catholic doctrine and instruction. Merry Christmas to you both! And God bless
The documents are written in such a way as to be easily interpreted as non Catholic, but yes, they are explicitly de-constructive of everything Catholic in the Church.
So would your point of view be that it is not beneficial in reading/following it for solid Catholic doctrine? And the Council of Trent is a good document to study? Thanks for helping me navigate. Also brother I am reading the book ‘The Church in Crisis’ A History of the General Councils 325-1870 by Philip Hughes. If you have read it, any thoughts? I think it’s really good and shows from the beginning the attacks against our beloved Mother, the Church. Deus Vult!
Read everything by Father Philip Hughes, that which you cite and especially his 2 vol history of the English Reformation, if you want to know. But the Roman Catechism aka Catechism of the Council of Trent is bar far the fullest and most authentic exposition of the Faith yet written. For children and youths, the Catechism of St. Pius X, from the Full edition, which contains 3 catechisms, little children, first communion, confirmation preparation. The Homilies of the Saints, like, St. John Vianney, St. Augustine, St. Gregory the Great, St. Leo the Great, St. John Chrystostom, the life of St. Anthony of the desert by St. Athanasius, and the first part of the Summa of St. Thomas. I would recommend the Tract on the Holy Trinity by Bonaventure, which I translated, and which you can get from franciscan-archive.org/publications.html
Thank you Brother Alexis for the inspiring talk on these so influential happenings.
I threw out everything related to Vatican II and the Novus Ordo. I will have nothing to do with the post conciliar antipope or antichurch. The garage bag was heavy indeed! Long live Pope Benedict!
