    They are speading their guilt.
    They are trying to paint Benidict as one of them. A complicit perpetrator.
    Can bet that he would have been kept in the dark? Simply to protect themselves from his righteous judgement.
    It is actually against Cannon Law (amendments in the 1930s) to talk even to each other about those accused of these unbearable acts.
    So I believe Benidict ( same as Pell) was not informed of the criminal acts of the men in question.
    A crime in itself.
