9 thoughts on “Christ’s Second Coming: How it will go down….”

  1. I guess the first question which comes to mind is, “Since Jesus said, ‘Not one stone will be left laid upon another,’ why would one be tempted to count this ‘enduring wall’ to be contemporary with the time of Christ?”

Perhaps our editor might comment as to what he found insightful in this piece…?

“I covenant to you a Kingdom as My Father has done to Me that you may eat and drink with Me at My table in My Kingdom….” (Lk 22:29-30)

The most apocalyptic activity of any day of the week is the celebration of the Eucharistic Sacrifice; I am stupified to notice nothing essentially Catholic in this “reflection.”

Btw, the rescue of Lot’s family was a condescension: often, the good perish with the wicked. There were not even ten just in S&G, so the terms of God’s “bargain” with Abraham failed; there was no “obligation” on God’s part to hold up the city’s destruction, counter to the author’s remark.

    1. The wailing wall is not part of the temple. It’s part of the wall along the cliff face of Mount Zion upon which the Temple is built

      1. “As He was going out of the temple complex, one of His disciples said to Him, “Teacher, look! What massive stones! What impressive buildings!” ” — Mark 13, 1-2; Holman
“Καὶ ἐκπορευομένου αὐτοῦ ἐκ τοῦ ἱεροῦ …”
“And going forth [masc. decl. ‘of Him’] out of the Temple…” Apparently Jesus took the way going by the western retaining wall. The wall is not part of the Temple proper but those huge stones are what (presumably) Peter pointed at. See Alfred Edersheim , “The Temple”.

  2. I am confused by the author’s use of “understand”; wondering if a comma is absent, and rattled by the selection of “perspicuity” in this context.

“plain to the understanding especially because of clarity and precision of presentation a perspicuous argument.” –Merriam Webster

The author of the article writes:

“Here there is a stunning parenthetical phrase “let the reader understand” that feels like Christ turning his face and speaking through the centuries to us, the readers who will see the abomination arise. He asks us to “understand” to have the intelligence and perspicuity to dive deep into his words. When you or I read this part of the Gospel, Jesus is talking to us personally and —if you ask with a pure heart— he will open the meaning of his warning to you. Think for a moment in that immense privilege. How a humble and loving God addresses His creatures: ”

By” perspicuity” does Caso-Rosendi mean the following:
” The Church teaches that the four senses of Scripture are: (1) the literal level, within which can be found three spiritual levels: (2) the typological sense (often called the allegorical); (3) the moral sense (sometimes named the tropological); and (4) the anagogical sense.4 ago 2017″

Is he asking his readers to read it as Protestants, with their doctrine of perspicuity?

“Perspicuity? What in the heck is that? If you are a convert from a non-Catholic Christian faith, you may know what perspicuity of Scripture is. If you are a cradle Catholic, you probably don’t.”

Can you offer some clarity on all of this, please? As I read it I felt I am feeling both too impure and too lacking in intelligence to understand both what the author says and what Our Lord says. It sort of feels like secret knowledge for the elites.

  3. Perspicuity

    1. the quality of being clear and easy to understand:
    * The decisions themselves are models of perspicuity and judicial soundness.
    * Every word that contributes neither to perspicuity nor ornament, may be called vicious.

    2. the ability to think, write, or speak clearly:
Virginia, with her usual perspicuity, commented afterwards on her hostess’s vitality.
However, this golden opportunity is hardly the result of business perspicuity.

  4. Brother Alexis, Greetings on this beautiful Feast of The Assumption of our Blessed Mother!
Thank you for posting the excellent article written by Carlos Caso-Rosendi entitled ‘A Reflection on Parousia’. It is a superior interpretation of ‘The Second Coming’ and I would
say that he was undoubtedly inspired by the Holy Ghost, and there were no errors! I wish to add my personal insight on the subject.
The Parousia is not one single event, but a series of God planned events. Just as the arrival of Jesus on earth on Christmas Day was the fulfilment of the Angelus and acceptance by Saint Joseph, so too does The Second Coming occur by those faithful who prepare for this tremendous moment.
As Noah spent many years preparing the Ark, and Abraham had to leave his place of comfort and go where he was directed, so too must we make ready for the events which are unfolding, and the much more atrocities which are about to come upon us. Jesus said: “And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch” (Mk 13:37). The learned Carlos Caso-Rosendi quotes from St. Matthew: “Then they that are in Judea, let them flee to the mountains” (Mt 24:16). I take these mountains to be The Church. Why? The Prophet Daniel wrote: “Thus thou saw, till a
stone was cut out of a mountain without hands, and it struck the statue upon the feet thereof that were of iron and clay, and broke them in pieces. Then was the iron, the clay, the brass,
the silver, and the gold broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of a summer’s threshing floor, and they were carried away by the wind and there was no place found for
them: but the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth” (Dn 2:34,35). As God did His preparatory work in hiddenness in the womb of Mary, so too He is doing His mighty work ‘without hands’ in hiddenness before the visible Second Coming. What really is this mountain? It is our once Holy Catholic Church which has to be decontaminated, cleansed, exorcized of the abominations which have been committed against Her in recent times. God is doing His mighty act in hiddenness, and in my opinion, at this very time.
Jesus tells us that He makes all things new: “The things that were first, behold they are come: and new things do I declare: before they spring forth, I will make you hear them” (Is 42:9).
He confirms that this is done: “And He that sat on the Throne, said: Behold, I make all things new. And He said to me: Write. For these words are most faithful and true. And He said to
me: It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End” (Apoc 21:5,6).
Has Jesus made ‘the new Ark’ ready? I do believe that He has, and in my opinion Senor Carlos knowingly or unknowingly confirms this: “In the end times, many in the Church will
fall into the Great Apostasy and separate from the flock of Christ. Their contaminated gospel is not “the testimony of Jesus” but the vain witness of mere men. The last obstacle for the emergence of the Last Abomination is thus removed. The flock of Christ will now go “into the wilderness” and God will focus on punishing the impious world.” Sr. Carlos says: ‘The
flock of Christ will now go into the wilderness.’ Where is this ‘wilderness’? It is more than a spiritual wilderness, it is a place and event preordained by God: “And in the last days the
mountain of the house of the Lord shall be prepared on the top of mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go, and say:
Come and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob, and He will teach us His ways, and we will walk in His paths: for the law shall come forth from
Sion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem” (Is 2:2,3). This is something new yet formed from His Church as He has foretold to us. It is more than a ‘cleansed’ Roman Catholic
Church, it is the fulfilment of the Catholic Church, the fulfilment of Christianity. The fulfilment of Judaism is Christianity, the fulfilment of Christianity is Eucharistic man, that is man living in God, and God living in man in Eucharistic unity: “God is wonderful in His saints, the God of Israel is He who will give power and strength to His people. Blessed be
God” (Ps 67:36). Again Jesus said: “In that day you shall know that I am in My Father: and you in Me, and I in you” (Jn 14:20). Saint Paul confirms this when he speaks of the new man,
the new creation: “May we in all things grow up in Him, Who is the Head (Ep 4:15), walking in newness of life, in the likeness of His resurrection (Rm 6:4,5), grow to perfect man, and come unto the measure of the age of the fulness of Christ” (Ep 4:13). Our Blessed Mother said at Garabandal: “Not enough attention is given to The Eucharist.” In my heart I am calling
this ‘mountain on top of mountains’ “The Eucharistic Church” to distinguish it from the Roman Church. This Eucharistic Church (or whatever it may be called) is the fulfilment of
The One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
It is this Eucharistic unity in Christ Jesus which is the necessary prelude to Parousia, the visible Second Coming of Jesus among us. Eucharistic man is absolutely necessary as prophesied. Jesus in the womb of Mary was a prelude to the visible first arrival of Our Saviour. We used to say at the distribution of Holy Eucharist: “May the Body of Our Lord Jesus Christ preserve your soul unto Life Everlasting.” Eucharistic man prepares the way for The Eucharistic Man. So be it. Amen.

    1. Thank you for your insightful comment! Yes, Fr. A. The mountains are the Church as the Ark of Noah also symbolizes the Church. Noah and his family enter the Ark and the angels shut the door closed. The the rain begins and the world is changed forever.

“They went into the ark with Noah, two and two of all flesh in which there was the breath of life. And those that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the Lord shut him in. The flood continued for forty days on the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth. The waters swelled and increased greatly on the earth; and the ark floated on the face of the waters. The waters swelled so mightily on the earth that all the high mountains under the whole heaven were covered; ” (Gen 7:15-19) So the Ark and its “tshoar” (roof) raised above every mountain like the mountain of Daniel also symbolizing the Church. (“Make a roof for the ark, and finish it to a cubit above…” (Gen 6:16)

One never ceases to marvel at God’s teaching.
