Whom has Pope Benedict XVI authorized to undertake the Election of His Successor?

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

Now that the Catholic World is coming to understand the veiled way in which the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI has been speaking since February 2013, I want to return to shed some light on the question of the election of His successor and two aspects of His Declaratio which I was the first to publicly bring to the attention of the world.

In the past, when I spoke of these things, they seemed incredible. But now that Andrea Cionci has definitively established that the Holy Father is using amphibologies to get His message out to the faithful, while hiding their true meaning from the Masons in the Church — just as Christ our Lord did when speaking with the High Priests, Pilate, or the Pharasees — it is more certain that was I recognized nearly 3 years ago, is the true sense of His Declaratio.

First of all, in the very opening of the Latin text of the Declaratio, the Holy Father uses the word vobis instead of vobiscum, which is a glaring error only a refined classicist in Latin would be sensitive to, but which alters the meaning of the entire sentence and sends a grave warning to the whole Church.

All the Vatican translations read the vobis as if it were vobiscum, but that is a totally illegitimate and dishonest way of reading a Latin text. They do this, however, by necessity of self protection, because when you read vobis as vobis, and not as vobiscum, you see immediately that the Declaratio is a denunication of the entire Roman curia and the Cardinals in particular.

Reading vobis in the original as vobiscum, the opening sentence is translated thus:

“I have convoked you to this Consistory, not only for the three canonizations, but also to communicate to you a decision of great importance for the life of the Church. …”

But reading vobis in the original as vobis, the Latin meaning of the first phrase is an explosive declaration of schism:

“Not only for the sake of the three acts of canonization have I called you together for this Consistory, but also so that I may communicate a separation from you of great moment for the life of the Church.” (For details, and footnotes see here).

This means that the entire Declaratio must be read in an entirely different light, and that the references to the election of His successor too.

For when he says, in the core of his Declaration (again my translation):

On which account (5), well conscious of the weight of this act I declare in full liberty, that I renounce the ministry (6) of the Bishop of Rome, the Successor of Saint Peter, committed (8) to me through the hands of the Cardinals (7) on the 19th of April, 2005, to leave unused (10) from the 28th of February, at 20:00 hours, Rome time (9), the See of Saint Peter, and that a Conclave to elect a new Supreme Pontiff is to be convoked by those who are competent (11).

We must take a close look at the final phrase,

… that a Conclave to elect a new Supreme Pontiff is to be convoked by those who are competent.

They key word here in Latin is,

ab his quibus competit convocandum esse.

Speaking in front of the entire College of Cardinals, the Holy Father omits to say that they are the men to whom it pertains to convoke the Conclave. I noticed this in 2020, and it led me to all my investigations into the text (see here), which have borne fruit now in the book by Andrea Cionci.

COMPETIT

So now that we know that it is very important to pay attention with precision to the words that the Holy Father uses, I wish to bring to your attention, dear readers, that the Holy Father is saying something very important in His choice of the word which in English has no equivalent: and that word is competit.  I have rendered it as those who are competant, using the English cognate.

But the Latin does not refer to mental competancy but to legal competancy.  And this reference is not just to someone who has authority to act, but to one who has it innately or naturally.

This can be seen in the definitions of the Latin verb, competo, in the Lewis’s Latin Dictionary, under the third tropological sense of the word:

3. To belong, be due to: “actionem competere in equitem Romanum,Quint. 3, 6, 11: “mihi adversus te actio competit,Dig. 19, 1, 25: “poena competit in aliquem,App. M. 10, p. 243, 40: “hereditas competit, alicui,Eum. Pan. Const. 4: “libertas servo competere potest,Just. Inst. 1, 5, 1.—Hence,
1. compĕtens , entis, P. a.
Source: here.

This is why the Holy Father says, ab his quibus, rather than ab vobis fratribus cardinalibus quibus…  That is, why He says, “by those to whom” rather than “by You Cardinal Brothers”.

This is because the Cardinals only have the right to elect the Roman Pontiff in virtue of Canon Law and Papal Law, which are positive juridical acts, which can be altered or abolished.  But there is another group which has the right to elect the Roman Pontiff by divine and natural right and Apostolic Tradition, which can never be abolished and needs no written law to confirm: and that is the Catholics of the Church of Rome.

Hence, I believe it can be soundly and safely said, that in His Declaratio, the Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI has authorized canonically His successors election by the Faithful of Rome, foreseeing in some way, that all the Cardinals would break with the Apostolic See by electing an anti-Pope and that none of them would be reconciled with His person before His death, which is the sine qua non requirement for them to participate in any election of His successor.

And His prayer for the Cardinals at the end of his Declaratio shows that He is praying for their conversion and return, as a good father always does.

With Globalist Censorship growing daily, No one will ever know about the above article, if you do not share it.

  1. Incredible. It is becoming ever more obvious that the renunciation was planned as far back as 1983, when Pope JPII updated canon law.

    1. No one in 1985 knew that Cardinal Ratzinger would be elected Pope.
Pope JP2 appears to have been prophetically inspired by the Holy Ghost to reform Canon Law according to Divine Providence against the future machinations of Masonic Cardinals in conclave.

  2. I noticed that in the Consecration of the NO Mass that the word ” Blessed” had been omitted in the blessing of the bread.I have been told by every priest I’ve pointed this out to that all that is necessary to say is ” This is my Body. This is My Blood”
Every pre V2 missal does not omit the word “blessed”. It seems nitpicky I know, but all pre V2 Missals also say that not one word or gesture is ever supposed to be changed or omitted under an ANATHEMA.. S ome priests do now say ” said the blessing “, which conveys something happening in the past..while it is in Omniscience happening now as Christ in the priest is at the Pentecost Supper in persona Christi saying the same words, which is why to use another language seems to me to be wrong.

    1. The word “blessed” is not considered to be in the words of institution, which, in the Old Rite are simply “Hoc est enim Corpus Meum,” and which were expanded in the new to “Accipite et manducate, ex hoc omnes, Hoc est enim Corpus Meum, quod pro vobis tradetur.” It may be less than precise to say they were expanded, but these are the words Pope Paul VI insisted would be the same in all Eucharistic prayers. The word “blessed” is not included among these, but is part of the Roman Canon, and is properly translated in the 2011 translation.

  3. Wow! What an analysis! If what you wrote is true (and I believe it is), then the entire College of Cardinals is in schism with not only the Church, but with with Pope Benedict. Completely excommunicated.

We certainly live in incredible times.

    1. Benedict never renounced the munus. And not one Cardinal will say so. That is total schism and a betrayal of the worse kind. Such an act is automatically excommunicated by canon 1364. It cannot be pardoned except by the Roman Pontiff since it is against his person. They lose all right to elect anyone after that and they have been excommunciated since March 3, 2013.

  4. So dissapointed by/in Cardinal Burke. Poor man. What a shame – not only for him but for all those who held him in highvesteem.

Will any of the Cardinals or bishops retain any of their positions, or for that matter, even monsignors and priests? And what about monks and religious? How will it be possible for these figures to maintain any spiritual credibility and trust? Will they, once order is restored, be told to avoid the laity and to live out their days in monasteries doing penance?

Would you please clarify who elects the next Pope? I seem to recall reading (maybe here at From Rome?) that it is a select group of various lay and religious from the greater Roman area and not really any Tizzio, Caio, or Sempronio. Don Minutella, however seems to suggest it may be indeed Roman laymen. I am confused. Will it be only male believers involved? Who will they be? How will it be established who was loyal to Benedict? Don Minutella mentioned the election would be somehow miraculous and that all will know who it is that God wants the Pope to be.

    1. St. Peter left to the Church of Rome, that is, to all the clergy, religious and laity in the Diocese, the right to elect his successor. This includes also the Catholics in the suburbican dioceses, which were detached in an honorary sense from the Diocese of Rome, but which are still canonical parts thereof.

      1. I should like to see this particular claim substantiated, especially as St Peter delegated his successor personally.

The claim inherently suggests that such an electorate would know itself to be so competent — and proof of such a datum and consciousness of it is far from apparent.

      2. I alas am in Spain, and don’t have access to my copy of History of Conclaves… ask me again when I return….. but what source have you that Linus was not chosen, but appointed as the euccesir of St Peter personally?

      3. En la exortación “Universi Dominici Gregis” dice Juan Pablo ll ,sino me equivoco, que no se puede elegir al Papá por aclamación. Lo leí en el Código de Derecho Canónico que trae la exortación.

  5. Excommunication for the Anti-Clerics can’t happen fast enough. Our Eminence Cardinal Ratzinger as Pope Benedict XVI, the REAL Pope, can be re-installed and a whole bevy of both ‘Church’ and secular issues will be wiped away bringing SANITY, stability and certainty to the world and an elimination of those EXPOSING THEMSELVES as unfaithful to the Church. How wonderful to have a ‘Lover of Jesus’ instead of the ‘Fertility Goddess Pachamama’ as our ‘Head of the Church of Christ on Earth’.

  6. Does Pope Benedict XVI even need to depart from us before the decision is made?

According to tradition (not sure if binding Tradition), several of the early Popes after St Peter were chosen before the death of the reigning Pope.

Having Pope Benedict XVI as katechon to keep the worst excesses of Bergoglio at bay, would give him the ability as maybe a final act to signal approval for a selection made as you explain.

It would also give one last narrow window of grace for corrupted Cardinals to repent and declare allegiance to Pope Benedict XVI and his legitimate successor and could thus confirm the brethren one last time.

Also, is it possible that Pope Benedict XVI may have appointed some Cardinals in pectorem, that may be revealed by him directly or in a Papal Will or similar document with Canonical status?

  7. Surely Pope Benedict, by virtue of the fact that he is a validly elected living Pope who retains the Gift of The Holy Ghost and is thus infallible when it comes to The Catholic Faith and morals, can declare the election of an invalidly elected pope to be anti pope and anti Filioque.

“For the Holy Spirit was not promised to the successors of Peter that by His revelation they might make known new doctrine, but that by His assistance they might inviolably keep and faithfully expound the Revelation, the Deposit of Faith, delivered through the Apostles. “

      1. Irenæus (Adv. hæreses, III, iii, 3) reads: “After the Holy Apostles (Peter and Paul) had founded and set the Church in order (in Rome) they gave over the exercise of the episcopal office to Linus. The same Linus is mentioned by St. Paul in his Epistle to Timothy. His successor was Anacletus”.

  8. Well, Pope Benedict XVI certainly would not desire to leave as an inheritance, an anti Pope, and for this reason, The Faithful have the inherent Right to question Pope Benedict XVI, in a safe haven, of course, for if it were true that Pope Benedict XVI, desires to leave as an inheritance an anti Pope, he himself would be denying The Unity Of The Holy Ghost (Filioque) and would be, in essence, anti Pope.
