  1. Servant of God Fr. Domenico da Cese, a friend of St. Padre Pio and fellow Capuchin, was rescued from the rubble of a church as a child (where he had been assisting at Mass when an earthquake struck) by a handsome and kind man.

When he was later assigned to the church at Manoppello where one of the relics of our Lord’s Passion (I forget which) depicting the Holy Face was housed, he stopped and wept. Three hours later, having not moved, the Superior asked “What is the matter?” and Domenico replied “That is the Man Who rescued me from the rubble of the church.”

This same Fr. Domenico da Cese is shown attending Padre Pio’s funeral (it’s on YouTube) when he was actually several hundred miles away, saying Holy Mass.
