This is good news, isn’t it?
I think it is. For those who do not know the history of the Church, the Church of Alexandria, not understanding the teaching of the Ecumenical Council Chalchedon, their patriarch called another rival council and proposed another verbal expression, and withdrew from communion with the Catholic Church. Their misunderstanding was based on the fact that the Greek Expressions of Chalchedon were not intended on the meaning of the words based on their etymologies, but on the meaning of the words as used in the Greek Fathers of the Church who were considered orthodox. This solemn liturgy at St. John Lateran, is another step toward restoring communion because it is another admission that ancient misunderstanding is now understood as a linguistic misunderstanding.
Hope the chief protagonists are able to look a bit more joyful six years on!
