  1. I agree, fascinating history that I knew very little about. Those Normans certainly covered a lot of territory. Some chronicles say that Ralph (Rudolf) de Toeni) was recruited to fight against the Greeks at Gargano when he was visiting the shrine of St Michael with some other Normans. Apparently he is one of my ancestors.
