Commentary by Br. Alexis Bugnolo
Nearly 2 years and 5 month ago, I warned Europeans that Russia could conquer Ukraine and Europe if they did not immediately start rebuilding military industrial capacity. And just one week ago, the formerly pro-Russian Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister of Poland, has admitted that the EU could muster only 100,000 soldiers to help defend Ukraine, if the U.S.A. cuts and runs.
To understand the magnitude of the problem, there are 700,000 Russian troops on the front lines in Ukraine. Whereas, the Ukrainians have 400,000 and another 400,000 in reserve (the Ukrainians rotate their men, 3 weeks at the font, 3 weeks in R&R, the last I heard).
You can see the magnitude of the problem on the strategic level in this video, in English, from the Austrian National Military Academy, which gives an excellent overview and synopsis of the Ukrainian War, as of February 2025:
Obviously, another 100K men is not going to lead to Ukrainian victory, but it will perhaps, if properly supplied with abundant munitions and equipment stop their advances totally. However, Europe lacks the military-industrial base to produce 3+ million artillery shells a year, just to name one statistic. And if EU nations join the struggle they also have to consider that Russia will start attacking them on the ground with long range missiles and their merchant marine on the high seas. Things could get ugly very fast.
But this fear of Russia is not something contrived, since Russian State propaganda channels have already in 2022 called for the conquest of Europe from Warsaw to Lisbon.
The only way to peace is to convince Russia to abandon its policy of eastward conquests. And only the Consecration of that nation to the Immaculate Heart can achieve that. We need a true pope to do that consecration, which no true pope has ever done. — Pope Francis attempted it during his antipapacy, but not being the true Pope, it was bound to be ineffective, and has indeed proven to be so. This was Our Lady’s way of saying She does not recognize antipopes as Vicars of Her Son. But the controlled opposition Catholic media could not see it and ignored it.
Russia’s strategy is to divide and conquer. literally. And they are achieving that goal as can be seen in the recent statements by Poland’s Foreign Minister:
Everything depends, now, on what the next Pope does. He has to be pro-Defense of Europe, yet at the same time against the Socialist-Antichristian politics of Europe. In addition to doing the Consecration right, he needs to create a new Military Order dedicated to defending Christian civilization and Christians, and call for a perpetual crusade as a way of authentic Catholic living for those with vocations to the military or security careers. This will require a candidate who is bold, audacious, militant, virile and knows what a great pope like Bl. Urban II, who called the First Crusade, is capable of.
May God grant us such a man! Soon! Fiat, Fiat, let it be, O Lord, the God of Hosts!

FromRome: “Pope Francis attempted it during his antipapacy, but not being the true Pope, it was bound to be ineffective, and has indeed proven to be so.”
I would say that (rather than ineffective) it was counterproductive. I.M.O. the sincere prayers of the just never achieve the opposite of the desired results. Getting the contrary of what is asked is the lot of the wicked.
