Editor’s Note: After 10 days in the hospital, the Press Release given at noon, today, says that Pope Francis is pursuing therapies which need time to produce results. But if they have not shown results after 10 days, who is fooling whom, by saying he has rested well during the night? It is clear that the therapies are NOT giving results and that his condition is worse than merely critical: it’s incurable.

“Propaganda”, as my trusty dictionary explains, can be otherwise interpreted as “…ballyhoo, puffery, hype, agitprop, disinformation, Newspeak, rumours, lies.”

A profound teaching indeed, and very appropriate for the present pre-Lanten season of Septuagesima!
He is suffering a worst case scenario in this clinical setting. Not really responding to treatment and a slow deterioration of body systems. Sepsis that unfolds like this can drag on for weeks or longer. Until the body either finally gives out or a decision is made to cease treatment. I wonder if he has an Advance Directive? Who makes healthcare decisions for a man in his position?
The reports of his “attending” and “participating” in Mass, sending words of thanks, etc are an astounding level of dissonance. It gives the public a very misleading impression. If he is indeed still “alert and oriented” he is aware and suffering greatly. The whole situation is disturbing.
