USA: Remembering Irene Garza, murdered 65 years ago by her parish priest

Editor’s Note: The perpetrator of this heinous act, one John Felt, the pastor of her parish, murdered her on the Vigil of Easter in 1960 in a horrendous act of satanic lust. His peers, who were priests came to know he was guilty, but he was protected for nearly his entire life from prosecution by bishops and clergy alike, even those of whom had left the ministry.

Father Felt’s Bishop, at the time, Msgr. Mariano Simon Garriga, was of the House of Rampolla, the same as Pope Francis, who is already notorious for covering up sexual abuse at Buenos Aires, Argentina. But Crux Magazine won’t tell you that, because they are attempting to disassociate in your mind, Vatican II and the current crisis in the Church.

John Felt left the priesthood in 1972. He was convicted of the murder in 2017 and died in prison in 2020.

The crime was perpetrated at the rectory of the Sacred Heart Church, McAllen, Texas, in the diocese of Corpus Christi. Father John Felt lured her there, when she asked to go to confession, though there was a confessional in the Church.

Corpus Christi Diocese is often in the news. Readers of FromRome.Info have read a few articles about and by the Bishop Emeritus of that Diocese, Msgr. Rene Henry Gracida, who was appointed by Pope John Paul II as Bishop of that Diocese in 1983.

Cases like this should make Catholics’ blood boil, and convince them that not only does the Church need to bring back the Inquisition, but that She should establish the death penalty in Canon Law for such crimes.

You can read the last letter written by Irene to her friend, at Texas Monthly , currently behind a subscription wall.

  1. Well, friends. They have defiled and killed our daughters, abused our children, distorted the sacred, enthroned the Pachamama. Will we do “something about it” or will God raise a PUNISHER to desolate the whole world until the last of those creeps cease breathing?
