I was in Britain last summer and the guide (an elderly person) that showed my family and I around Canterbury Cathedral referred to King Henry VIII as “starting his own religion” when he made himself head of the church. I found that peculiar coming from someone I presumed to be an Anglican. I was especially astonished when I heard the same reference upon speaking to a guide at the ruins of St Augustine’s Abbey, just down the road from the Cathedral.
