Hello Brother Alexis Bugnolo,
I have a question about Catholic teaching regarding attending a questionable ‘marriage’. Sorry to be off topic regarding this message under this article but I don’t know where else to contact you. Also I have gotten answers but the priests that answered me could be modernists. Fr.mike Schmitz did a video on it and I have a suspicion that his answer that pertained to me was a modernists answer. So I figured there’s one place where I’ll get a soldi Catholic answer and that’s you!
So my sister is getting ‘married’ next month. But she’s not getting ‘married’ in a church, but a hotel. The person that’s ‘marrying’ them is a lesbian and a dog will be the celebrint and all her degenerate friends will be there. My sister is a liberal atheist and specially requested that the church will have nothing to do with her ‘wedding’. There’s probably more outrageous details I don’t know about yet.
In my opinion it’s not a marriage but some sort of demonic ritual. From what I understood from Fr.Schmitz video on this and others is that I still may attend. I can’t believe this …. everything points to the contrary in my opinion. My very presence is saying I agree this is a wedding while it’s not a sanctified wedding. There’s no church involved.
What’s your opinion and what’s the churches opinion on this?

By the teachings of the Saints, I would say that one should never attend such a thing. If a Catholic were to attend such a ritual, it would make a mockery of God’s institution of marriage. A marriage without God is not a marriage, and no adopted child of God should endorse it. It won’t last either. So better to not attend and say later, I told you so….
I remember more than 24 years ago, I was invited to an engagement ceremony. Mid way through they brought out a wedding cake. I asked what was going on, and learned that the couple were cohabiting. I got up and left right then and there, realizing that the Catholic couple which invited me, had lied to me and kept me in the dark about the reality of the thing.
The fact that your sister is part of this, imposes no obligation to attend. Rather, you show your sister greater respect by NOT participating in her immoral follies. You are perhaps the only reference point of truth in her life, therefore what you do is the most important message you can send her.
If she asks, say something like, “Sis, I love you more than your follies, and I am not going to lie to you by attending this mess”.
