News Commentary by Br. Alexis Bugnolo
This story begins on Wednesday afternoon, April 30, 2025, the Feast of St. Pius V, here in Italy.
First, this (click image below) appears in the Italian Version of the Vatican News site. It’s surreal. Someone must be smoking weed grown at Davos, the weed which has the color of Euro bills, if you know what I mean. — At the same time, in the English edition, only, Vatican News has an article on the Eighth General Congregation of the Cardinals, dated 1:57 P.M., Thursday, May 1st.
And even more strangely, the spokesman of the College, insists that Cardinal Parolin, on Wednesday did not faint and was not cared for by a medical team for an hour for high blood pressure. Evidently, the spokesman is more willing to call all the Cardinals who spoke with the international press corp liars, rather than admit that the leading Bergoglian candidate does not have the health to be the next pope.
As they say at Rome, never believe a report until it is denied: thus, we now know that it truly happened.
THEN, the denial about Parolin’s health issue is found in no Italian version of Vatican News’ website, as of 3:15 PM Rome time, Thursday, May 1st. Nor is any Italian version of the summary of what happened in the Eight General Congregation. This makes me think that the sources which spoke to the press about Parolin’s health crisis are Italian native speakers, and the Vatican News Editor of the Italian edition does not dare to imply they are liars, so is putting out the denial only in the English version.
UPDATE: Thursday May 1, 7 PM evening, Rome Time.
The Vatican published an Italian version, in a different format and with more information, some time in the late afternoon and back dated it to 3 PM Rome time. — This is the first evidence that I have that the Vatican News site has fake time stamps on its articles: just one more layer of deception since Pope Francis went into hospital “for pneumonia”, when it was really for overdosing on cortisone.
In the Italian version, the denial of Parolin’s health problem is put first and is lengthy. But the spokesman cites no witnesses to corroborate his claim. Perhaps tomorrow the Newspaper at Rome which ran the story will back up its report with the evidence they based their story on. — Since the Cardinals swear silence about what they say in the General Congregations, we may never know who is telling the truth. But if Parolin had a health emergency, now his reputation is even more cooked for having the spokesman deny what all the Cardinals saw.
UPDATE: Saturday, May 3, 2025, 7 P.M. Rome time.
It appears that J. D. Flynn of “The Pillar”, which has often gotten the news wrong in the past, insists that the Vatican spokesman is a blatant liar for denying that Cardinal Parolin saw a doctor. However, looking and this report below and the Italian denial above, I see that they are talking about two distinct things. The spokesman denied that Cardinal Parolin had a medical emergency DURING the Wednesday General Congregation AND denied that there on the spot was assisted by a medical team. So J. D. Flynn’s assertion that he has a most certain source who affirms the Cardinal saw a doctor on the same day, is not directly contradictory. And does seem to affirm, still. the substance of the original report, that Cardinal Parolin has problems with high-blood pressure.NOTE: This article was originally published on May 1, but has been modified with updates as late as May 3rd, as the story of Cardinal Parolin’s health issue becomes controverted.
