Editor’s Note: As my readers know, I do not shy away from pointing out how unsound is the information provided by many “Catholic” sites. And even how wrong on basic points of Church Law are even eminent and well known writers.
So I have to point out for the sake of the historical record, that Eric Sammons, the publisher of 1 Peter 5 has shown that he knows nothing about Church law, because if he did, he would have asked the author to correct his article, above, before publishing it.
Indeed, Dr. Seifert, who is a renowned philosopher, should have opened up the Code of Canon Law before writing the above article, and if he did, he would have found that during a Sede Vacante no legal action can be taken by anyone in the Vatican, simply because, with the pope being dead, there is no monarch to authorize the mandate to investigate, judge or condemn.
Remember these things, when you next read an article on another Catholic site making claims or issuing petitions, that often Catholics, even good Catholics, don’t have the foggiest idea of what they are talking about.
