The rest is obvious.
And if you are confident enough that you will eventually be the major superior of your Order, just a few years after you are ordained a priest, that usually means that you are a “friend” of some powerful clerics that will make it happen.
I know this for a fact, because in 1991, I spoke with a priest who told me that Bishop Sean Patrick O’Malley, OFM Cap who was Bishop of the American Virgin Islands, in that year, would one day be the Archbishop Cardinal of Boston, Massachusetts, USA, because his “spiritual director” was Cardinal Law.
And presto magico, he became the Archbishop of Boston in 2003, and in 2006 was made a cardinal. The priest I was speaking to in 1991 was not a prophet, he just knew how the Ecclesiastical Mafia work.
Cardinal Law resigned when the Boston Globe discovered and threatened to publish a letter from Pope John Paul II instructing him how to move pedophiles around from place to place to hide them from the laity and their victims. Law resigned within 24 hours, on condition that the Boston Globe would put that letter in a very very deep hole.
Prevost names Fr. Edgard Rimaycuna as personal private secretary
In related news, 17 years ago a seminarian took Father Provost as his “spiritual director”, and today, he has been named as the Private Secretary to Leo XIV. He describes Prevost as his Bishop, but first of all his “Friend” (Amico). — I do not know what this word may mean in Spanish, but it appears the secretary used the Italian word, which is more charged, since it means either “friend” or “boy-friend”/”lover”. — In any case, the last thing the Church needs is a Pope with a young secretary personal friend of 17 years, because of what it implies to those who know how the world works. — His surname, “Rimacunya” is Quechua for “Remarks”, “Words”, “Comments”, a name very apt for a Secretary.

I would agree. As one of my Anthropology professors who worked decades in Peru told me, there are two kinds of priests in Peru, the ones found in the cities with plush apartments and the ones on motorcycles who visit every little village and bring people the Catholic Religion. He was not a Christian, but he said that the latter were Saints.
