  1. That is a very sane article,

Recently a parochial school teacher asked me my opinion of using Dungeons and Dragons to teach the children.

  2. Tomorrow’s reading:
And even though our Gospel is veiled,
it is veiled for those who are perishing,
in whose case the god of this age
has blinded the minds of the unbelievers,
so that they may not see the light of the Gospel
of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

  3. Apologies, I submitted my comment before I was finished. The Catholic school teacher was very excited about Dungeons and Dragons, gushing, “You can literally learn anything from it!” I was impressed that she didn’t seem to realize the philosophical significance of what she had just stated. My response was, If they can learn the Four Pillars of the Faith from it then it might deserve a look. But I would caution you that, while I don’t believe the Magisterium has spoken on D&D, many traditional Catholic parents will be wary of its proposed use on their children as a “teaching tool.”

It’s “anything but The Faith” out there these days, when it comes to teaching The Faith. I’ve never seen so many people so confused.

The video and audio clips excepted in the excellent Chris Jackson article are what my 4th grader would call “cringe-worthy.” You don’t know whether to laugh or pray a novena to St. Joseph. I opted for the latter.

  4. I was just thinking about this while my heart sank and sadness overcame me listening to a YouTube priest striving for relevance (or keyword competing?) with a bonified exorcist whose discussion on the same topic did not have that effect.

I turned it off as bad memories were being brought to mind.
