Editor’s Note: The horrific flooding of the Guadalupe River in South Central Texas engulfed a Christian Girls summer camp. In Texas, one normally assumed that this was a protestant camp. But this sad news, above, shows that some of the 22 girls who drowned to death were Catholics. — These two girls, who could not save their mortal lives, were prepared to save their immortal souls. The testimony they have given to these great truths is without doubt a salvific work of justice. May they rest in peace with Jesus and Mary.
They died when their wooden cabin, in which they were staying, was born on the flood waters. They were in it with their grandparents, whose remains have not yet been found.
Most Catholics do not know, that for the works of righteousness done in faith we can merit the graces to die friends of God and thus get to Heaven. Saint Bonaventure numbers among these saving works of faith, the works of mercy, spiritual and corporal.
These two sisters have taught the world a great lesson, and their voices go out to the ends of the earth, preferring to trust in God first and above all, and reach out to our Lady, not abandoning one another out of self-interest.

God bless those 2 little girls. Their faith at such tender ages in a terrifying catastrophe should shame many of us. They have gone to their reward.
Pie Jesu Domine, dona eis requiem. Amen.
I wept when I first saw this image & description – my first thoughts were that these were two beautiful & innocent brides of Christ whose immortal souls had gone straight to Heaven when their bodies were drowned by the floodwaters.
What a truly beautiful example of Catholic faith, I am still moved to tears on seeing & reading this remarkable story!
Our thoughts & prayers must go out to the parents of these girls, it is impossible to imagine the grief of parents whose children are taken from them in such circumstances. But they have the consolation that they catechized their daughters in the One True Faith and that their souls will have gone to their eternal reward.
And, on this 9th July when the TLM liturgy in Great Britain venerates Saints John Fisher & Thomas More, both beheaded in 1535 under the tyrannical persection of Henry VIII, let us all take inspiration from their robust allegiance to the Church of Rome and total rejection – at the cost of their lives – of anything contrary to their consciences and to the rights of GOD, of Christ and of His Church.

There is really nothing I can say to her incredulity, other than she is more critical than reason itself should be.
