Editor’s Note: In recent weeks there have been reports of tax liability problems for Cardinal Prevost, who is posing as Leo XIV. But these reports show a complete misunderstanding of the U.S. Tax Code, not to mention imply the truth that Prevost is a usurper.

For in the U.S. Tax Code the income of any religious leader of a recognized religious group is NOT taxable. The only income such a person could have which would be taxable would be income generated by intellectual property rights (e.g. he writes a best seller and receives a royalty) or non religious income (he receives a salary for a consulting job). Moreover, religious who do not have income since they are bound by the vow of poverty, never have any tax liability IF the keep their vow and avoid all commercial activity in their own name.

Moreover, heads of state of foreign countries have no tax liability in the United States, IF they do not have any personal sources of income inside the United States.

So since Prevost is an Augustinian Monk — or was at least that before his Episcopal ordination — he should not have any taxable income at all in the United States, not even from an inheritance trust, since as a Monk he could not receive a trust payout.

Also, since Prevost is claiming to be the monarch of a foreign power, he ipso facto should lose his U.S Citizenship, as per the U.S, Constitution.

The only way Prevost could have a tax-liability is that he is receiving a salary from some U.S. entity such as the CIA, as an intelligence agent.

And the only reason why he should worry of even having a tax-liability, is that he realizes that he is not the Pope and will be found out before death, after which discovery he would be a private citizen without citizenship in any nation, if he lost U.S. citizenship.

So there is a lot of strange obsession in these reports, unless all these news reporters and their agencies know and recognize that Prevost is not the pope, but in the employ of some entity in the U.S.A..
