I believe that the Church of the Dormition, which in rather unelaborate Anglo – Saxon vernacular may be translated as “The Church of the Falling Asleep” (of the Virgin Mary), is located in East Jerusalem. When the “brave” and “courageous” IDF captured East Jerusalem, the jews desecrated the Church in an manner that was and remains unutterably vile. And unspeakable. And, to this day, the Vatican will not comment on how the jews defiled this Holy Place. And don’t expect to hear it discussed on “EWTN.” Either. It has become one of “those” issues about which nothing may ever be said. Such as the unprovoked attack on the USS Liberty. In 1967. In fact, I believe that the attack on the Liberty and the desecration of the Church of the Dormition may have occurred in the same year.
that was in 2016, and it was not inside the Church but on the exterior walls of the Abbey

This informative and well referenced website, which exists for the purpose of encouraging pilgrimages to the Holy Land, supports David’s point that a desecration of the Church of the Dormition by Israeli forces took place during the Six Day War in 1967:
