A Catholic Priest, by his very nature, is an Ambassador of God

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

I recently had a private discussion with one of the top theologians in the Catholic Church, whose expertise and writings I have admired for nearly 30 years. — When the topic of ‘Fiducia supplicans’ came up, I remarked that the document clearly contains heresy, and he disagreed.

So I replied thus: “I disagree, FS is clearly heretical and is equipollent to pure apostasy, because it is the perennial teaching of the authentic magisterium of the Church that a priest, after ordination, acts in the Name of God in every priestly act he accomplishes, even if he does not name the name of God. Therefore to say that he can give such person a blessing without invoking that Name is simply a pure heresy against the Catholic teaching on the intimate and inextricable nature of the priesthood and the Divine Name.”

Reconsidering this, not to change my view, but to find a strong Scriptural argument for my position, I referred to the infallible teaching of Saint Paul the Apostle, co-founder of the Church here at Rome, who said in his Second Letter to the Corinthians, Chapter 5, speaking of himself as a priest of God:

“For Christ, we are the ambassadors of God, as though God is speaking through us …” (2 Cor 5:20)

But since in my studies, I have rarely referred to the Greek text of Saint Paul, since I do not read Greek, I took a look to understand better what Saint Paul meant. Here is the Intralinear text, showing the Greek and English side by side (Click the image to enlarge, but click HERE to go to the soure):

What you can see is, that when Saint Paul says, “we are ambassadors”, he is using the Greek verb, “πρεσβεύω”, translitterated in Latin letters as, “presbeus”. If you are good at languages, you might notice that that word is very similar to “presbyter”. And you would be right, since presbyter is the substantive derived from that verb.

The conclusion therefore is totally amazing, and confirms the Catholic Faith that we all hold, since the very verb which means “we are ambassadors” is the same verb from which we get the word, “priest”, which is derived from the Greek “presbyter”!

This means, that we would be 100% accurate to say “ambassador” instead of “priest” since both words mean the same thing!

Or in other words, it is the teaching of Saint Paul the Apostle that the very nature and essence of the Catholic Priest is that of an Ambassador of Jesus Christ, our God.

This scriptural discovery confirms, what I said to this top theologian, that Fiducia supplicans is not only heretical but counsels apostasy, because it wants priests to give a blessing as a priest, without invoking the Divine Name as His ambassador. Thus it is suggesting a priest could be a priest while not being a priest of Christ, but a priest of sodomy and immorality!

This is why any priest, whatever liturgy he offers, who tolerates in the smallest way the abominable suggestions contained in ‘Fiducia supplicans’ has in betraying his very self, denied the ontological bond he receives in the Sacrament of Orders, with his Lord and Master, his God and King, his Savior, Redeemer, and High Priest.

Here is a list of the meanings of the Greek verb:

  1. This bifurcation is the justification used by the top theologian to keep his university chair or status in the Church.

    1. Well, he is retired, as far as I know, but in a sense all priests who have faculties to say mass, preach etc. are possible subjects of persecution by a hierarchy which sees conformity on the questions which legitimize illegal elections as a sort of soviet necessity of self-justification.

  2. A very perceptive person left this comment on a note I published yesterday about Fiducia Supplicans:

“paragraph 31 says its for couples. libs get their sentences, conservatives get their sentences. i reject the whole thing becuase its promoting homosexuality and a terrible embarrasment and shame for the church. if pope francis was against this, why not punish james martin for doing a public wedding like ceremony afterwards? he has the will to attack the traditional latin rite, but no will here. it shows what he wants. the entire german synodale weg led by cardinals in his inner circle has openly promoted sodomy without censure. why? its his policy. why did he write some lgbt activist nun to congratulate her for her work ,someone b16 forbid to even speak in catholic churches. because its his real opinion. please stop with the spiritual abuse. we know what this was for. for the blessing of ss couples. its in the text ,if other sentences contradict that then maybe that was part of the plan? a i required to pretend there isnt a ton of counterveiling evidence to your strange theory. the majority of evidence supports my conclusion. most crucially the practice of the pope and church supports it.”

So it seems that Pope Francis and Tucho included some old fashioned Vatican II double talk into the document.

    1. Yes, he said that he considers it theologically impossible that the Cardinals broke the law, because that would imply that they are dishonest and that the entire hierarchy are either too lazy to read the law or too complicit in the revolution. Besides he even refutes the opinion of Cardinal Mueller that there is anything contrary to the Faith in fiducia supplicans, and after hearing me out briefly on the topic, does not want to speak to me further, though he gives no reason. I think he is operating under the assumption that Pope Francis was not a heretic, because as pope he could not be a heretic, ostensibly. But in fact, I think his real motivation is to avoid being persecuted.

It is quite disappointing, that a priest is willing to deny his very nature rather than admit that FS if accepted would lead to the end of his priesthood.

      1. Thank you. Too many people seem to think the truth should be nice or a consensus. Perhaps the time is coming when we will see the strong hand of God. God could correct everything very quickly by removing electricity from this world and perhaps another dancing sun will be the beginning of that.

      2. Catholic have to stop making excuses by saying if they only pray or if God only should intervene, when the whole problem is the fault of Catholics who do nothing and use these as excuses. The Saints did pray and did ask God to intervene, but they also went out and solved the problems.

  3. I completely agree with you and have been giving that warning that we should not leave it up to God to intervene but pray instead for His guidance. You do not need much imagination to realise how terrible it would be if nothing electrical worked due to burnt out electronics on a global scale. We would potentially be seeing in the most developed parts of the world: no transport, no communication, mass disorder, starvation, cannibalism, disease, mass deaths…
