At this late date, 13 years after the Declaratio of Pope Benedict XVI, there is not much that can be said anew, but what is news worthy is that Westen is moving more and more to sustain the thesis that Prevost is an antipope, in the canonical sense. And that is significant, since holds such powerful influence on the news-gates in the English speaking world: for good or ill.
As for Dr. Mazza’s pronunciation of Latin and French, it’s horribly wrong.
For everything on the Renunciation of Pope Benedict XVI, see our Index for the Renunciation of Pope Benedict XVI.
The fundamental error in Dr. Mazza’s presentation is that he denies that a Roman Pontiff can renounce the ministerium and retain the munus, which is patently false. However, what is true, is that if a Pope do such a thing, he remains the pope and MUST designate a vicar to exercise the ministerium, who, however, will have NO sui generis authority, but only vicarious, and thus lack completely the grace, office, munus and mandate of the Petrine Office.
