Brother Alex, Prevost appointed a new archbishop to New Orleans who in turn ordained four priests (on Saturday of Pentecost week). What is the status of these priests? And, furthermore, what do we make of the sacraments that these priests are responsible for? (are baptisms, confirmations, marriages & even the eucharist itself, then, legit or not?) Thanks again in advance…
When an antipope appoints a Bishop, that appointment is canonically invalid, and when he is consecrated a bishop that consecration is illicit, but valid. Likewise, when such an uncanonically appointed Bishop consecrates priests, their ordinations are presumed valid, but certainly illicit. Nor can this uncanonical Bishop give them any lawful pastoral mandate or office. If these men are not heretics, Catholics who have need of the Sacraments can receive them from them, as far as I know, since I know of no theologian after the Great Schism who denied the validity of the sacraments given by such men, or who fault as sinners any laity who receive sacraments from such men during the Great Schism. And pay no attention to the men who disagree with Saint Alphonsus on these questions, since they disagree with both the Magisterium of the Catholic Church who canonized him and made him a Doctor of the Church, and with this great Saint and friend of Jesus Christ.
I avoid getting sacraments like plague from Trad Incorporated because they are manifest practicing the Traditionalist Heresy. If they are really according to Tradition, they would have accepted Pope Elect Hildebrand.
