The book in which they are embodied was first published in the year 1897 by Philip Stepanov for private circulation among his intimate friends. The first time Nilus published them was in 1901 in a book called The Great Within the Small and reprinted in 1905. A copy of this is in the British Museum bearing the date of its reception, August 10, 1906. All copies that were known to exist in Russia were destroyed in the Kerensky regime, and under his successors the possession of a copy by anyone in Soviet land was a crime sufficient to ensure the owner’s of being shot on sight. The fact is in itself sufficient proof of the genuineness of the Protocols. The Jewish journals, of course, say that they are a forgery, leaving it to be understood that Professor Nilus, who embodied them in a work of his own, had concocted them for his own purposes.
         Mr. Henry Ford, in an interview published in the New York WORLD, February 17th, 1921, put the case for Nilus tersely and convincingly thus:

It’s not hard to understand why atheists, control freaks, mercenaries, existentialists, mad scientists, Marxist materialists, and Masonic sects might have fomented such a situation and/or pragmatically promoted such dystopian hysteria as we have seen in 2020. What those folks have in common is a total denunciation of God Almighty, dismissal of the reality of the immortal soul, and absolute denial of heaven and hell. For them, the only life is this one, which they want to control and rule together with “the prince of this world.”
   This is not the first time that has been tried throughout history, especially after Christ founded His Church and Christianity spread throughout the world. What makes this time disastrously different is that the Church Militant is not making much of a collective stand. Sins against the Holy Spirit are rampant. Faithless shepherds are running away; faithless sheep are scattering in fear; the Church is “in eclipse” while wolves close in to requisition, commandeer, and cull the flock.

   Let us think of the very great faith of those who bravely stood up in witness to Christ in arenas and circuses during the great persecutions (known to pagan Romans as “games”) under emperors Nero, Vespasian, Domitian, Maximian, Decius, Trajan, Diocletian. Even Peter was so scared that he tried to run away, until he met Our Lord on the Via Appia. “Quo vadis, Domine?” “Ego vado ad Romam crucifigi iterum.”

   To choose to live a lie is simply not worth it, as the saints and martyrs, if we could hear them, would tell us.
