As a former Naval officer, familar with the Corps, and UCMJ, I believe this man should have received a full BCD (dishonorable discharge) in the face of what is presented; as a Bible-believing Christian, I also believe that. Too often “mercy” is given where “righteousness” should be satisfied, in today’s world, and in this case, an “other than honorable” was “mercy”. By all indications in this story , and several comments posted at that site as well, a BCD was warranted. This decision allows him to retain some benefits , should he choose to access them, including VA health care. A BCD would’ve stripped all benefits. I feel sad for his family; they will have to live with this too, but he brought it on them, knowing full well the penalties for violating the UCMJ, as did I. And, so far as is presented in the story and site comments, he was and remains unrepentant, so undeserving of the mercy he got.

    1. I do not believe a word of what CM publishes. A Catholic ministry can publish a hit piece to save the public of some menace but CM is constantly involved in that kind of practice. The Catholic Church does not shun her sons like the Jehovah’s Witnesses or some destructive sects. We are under divine command to pray and try to gain our brother back for God, not to make social mincemeat of him. Most specially when OUR PAST IS MOST CONDEMNABLE.

    Why are Americans so self righteous is something that I will never understand. Listening to men and women of all walks of life one hardly hears a loving, encouraging word. I can only imagine what this simple comment is going to unleash.

    CM should be a group of penitents and they go around acting like the criminal justice division. I listened to them for a while but their message became TIRING AND DISCOURAGING after only a month or two of listening to their diatribes most particularly The Bore Tex.

  4. CM has a personal vendetta against Mr. Parrot, which you would have been able to find out if you had dug into the story instead of linking this article from CM at face value. Did you know that the “criminal complaint” was triggered by Miss Niles herself, and that she provided the evidence to the government in reference to Mr. Parrot’s anti-LGBT tweets, so her reporting of “he is being investigated and he was kicked out” was because of HER personally? No? Here are the details: https://twitter.com/rtf_media/status/1591636616078315521 In charity, you should remove this post until you know the full story. And by the way, Br. Bugnolo, didn’t you get fooled in May 2022 triggering an apology because of one of Miss Niles’ articles about Dom Alcuin Reed? “Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me” adage comes to mind in this case. It makes me sad when I see stuff like this on your website.

    1. I will not pull the post, as it is a factual report. Yes, I know the events between Mr. Parrot and Mrs. Niles, and though I am not pleased this sort of disagreement should be national or international news, I am compelled to cover it, since I am a journalist. I tried to balance the presentation by adding the words, traditionalist lay-apostle. But as for Mr. Parrot, he has serious wounded his own reputation, and no one else is at fault for that. And yes, I have familiarized myself with the case of Father Jackson, and I am of the opinion that the forensic evidence is incontrovertible proof of his guilt and thus that he should be put away a long time. I also know seminarians from the FSSP Seminary in Nebraska, and I am not surprised by Fr. Jackson’s arrest. There is a lot more rot there that has yet to be revealed to the public.
