Br. Bugnolo’s translation of the Writings of Saint Francis of Assisi, 2nd Edition

by Br. Alexis Bugnolo

You may not know, but before I stared FromRome.Info, I spent my time translating the writings of Saints from Latin to English.

My first translation was the collected writings of Saint Francis of Assisi, from the critical edition of Kajetan Esser OFM.

That translation is now in its second edition, and is back in print. There are only a few hundred copies available, so it is being offered for a donation on a first come basis.

(see photo above).

For more information or to order a copy from the publisher, go to the Franciscan Archive. — You will find it as the 3rd publication on that page.

Please note that because of Covid restrictions, this book cannot be shipped to Australia.

  1. I ordered and received mine very recently! Always loved St Francis of Assisi! Thank you for doing this work Brother Alexis!

    1. All thanks be to God, I did it to know St. Francis better, and the work was like sitting at his feat.

  2. Good morning,
When i go to the link i cannot find “Writings of Saint Francis of Assisi, 2nd Edition”. I only see the one of 2008.

    1. There were 63 typographical errors in the 2008 edition, so when it was reprinted these were corrected. But as it does not substantially change the edition, it is the same. I call it a second edition, because I am very ashamed of the typos in the first printing. Perhaps I should call it simply the 2nd printing.

  3. Ordered Brother Bugnolo.

This is a very nice gift from you to us. I cannot wait to receive my copy. It will be treasured in my home.

God’s Blessing unto you today, you deserve it today. And we all do.

    Thank you,
    Marcellus.

  4. Dear Brother Bugnolo,
I have discovered an old edition of Works of St. Francis of Assisi, ed. R.Washbourne, 1882, Imprimatur William Bernard available on some archives on the Internet. Page 248 – The Saint Prophesies great Schism and Tribulations in the Church. Do you confirm Saint Francis writes about two popes? One of them not canonically elected?

    1. I can affirm that he never wrote that prophecy, but 80 yrs after his death some of his disciples got in a heated fight with John XXI and wrote a lot against the pope. So its authenticity is questionable.

  5. How strange that it cannot be shipped to Australia because of “Covid”; I recently received books ( and other goods, incl supplements) from USA and Orkney, UK with no restrictions.
    Disappointing 😩

    1. The US Post office bans the shipment of my books to Australia. They say it’s because the Australian govt. refuses them.

  6. Bought. Having read my first book on St Francis I remember crying. I have been to Assisi several times one is struck by the spirit of Francis that pervades the place. It is my ardent desire to return for the Pardone.
